I have many myself but my cherished one is a WASP import from England on red vinyl. It's an E.P of Like a beast.
I want to get a turntable I saw that connects to your PC using USB.
Melmart1 mentioned vinyl in the ice cream thread. Got me wondering.
Anyone still have any? Collect them?
I was in the record business for years, I ended up with over 10,000 albums.
After many moves we got really tired of dragging them with us so I thinned it out to only the ones I loved and the ones I thought might have some re-sale value down the road.
I've got 5,000 now. (And yes, I've got a turntable to play them!)
Of course I've got CD's, and that is actually what I use most. They're convienent.
But I love vinyl more. I think they sound better, pops and all.
I think the artwork is so much easier to appreciate on a 12".
Anyone out there with me?

I'm with you.
Wow..what a thread!!!
I just recently started collecting them. About 3 months ago or so I bought an antique stereo system with record player and stereo. You know the old wooden style!
It rocks. I love it. I listen to them very frequently. Looking to sell any?![]()
Colorered vinyl is so fun.
I've got lots. A few:
Beatles White Album on white vinyl, the blue greatest hits on blue, the red on red
Rolling Stones Some Girls on orange
A Michael Jackson singles collection all on different colors in a fold out (One I kept for re-sale)
REM on gold
I've got a Springsteen interview on a Harley shaped disc.
anyone need a copy of Sabbath's Mob rules? I think that is one I have a duplicate of, i'll have to check.
At some point, yes.
Right now the collection is alphabetical by type of music, my autographed or other special ones aside.
But there are a lot I kept with the knowledge that I'd sell them. I have to go through to get a list together.
I'd be interested in what you have.
I like classic rock, the bulk of them reflect my taste.
I was in the business from 79-90, so the promotional stuff covers those years, everything from punk to new wave to metal. Even some country mixed in from the bigger names.
I've got lots of tour programs, some signed, and some of those I might part with too.
Classic rock? Is there anything better?
Vinyl rules! I have some colored vinyl, my favorite is probably a pink Tori Amos vinyl of her album, "In the Pink"
I have a few 7" singles but not too many. I have one I picked up in Seattle that was pretty cool, it's a Dead Kennedys single and it has an armband in it with a swastika with a circle and a line through it, very anti-racism. I have never opened it though, cus it looks cool just like it is.
I have a lot of older albums, my faves are the Beatles, a few of the Zeppelin albums, quite a few Metallic, REM, the Smiths and U2. In fact, "The Joshua Tree" photography is sooo striking in album format, including the poster insert inside of it.
Not for me, though I expect someone will come in here spewing rap any minute!![]()
Don't open it. If you ever want to turn it over it will be worth more unopened.
Atlantic Records flew me to San Francisco to see The Joshua Tree tour, I had the cover signed. It's a great cover.
(Thanks for mentioning vinyl Mel!)
I have all the Beatles albums and most of Elvis' albums on vinyl that my dad passed on to me.
I also have some Led Zep that I bought a few years back, and some CCR and Dylan albums.
I even have Prince's "Purple Rain" on vinyl, I didn't buy it but some one left behind in a party I threw some years back.
Rap and hip hop :puke
yea..Beatles and Elvis!!!!!
I'd like to get all of the Beatles on vinyl. I have an Elvis collection with 50 songs on vinyl. It rocks.
Hahaha, I doubt there are many people willing to pay for a Dead Kennedys single, but ya never know. I love when newer artists release vinyl these days. Although, I had a real issue with it a awhile back.
When Pearl Jam released "Vitalogy" I bought it on vinyl instead of CD. It was scratched, so I took it back to the place I got it and they replaced it. This one was scratched, too -- in the exact same place! So I took it back again and they said 'no vinyl is perfect" and didn't want to replace it.
Now, all vinyl has the little popping noises (that I absolutely love) but this was a SCRATCH, meaning it would repeat the same part over and over again. There is a HUGE difference between a pop and a scratch. I went off on the er, cus I thought he was dismissing me cus I was only 17. He had made a snide remark about my age cus when I exchanged the first one they needed to see my ID to fill out the form. Finally, I left with a third vinyl and it was indeed, perfect![]()
Dude, I hate you!!!
U2 is one of my all time favorite groups.
You're gonna hurt Fillmoe's feelings.
I hate that rap .
Mint condition my brother!!!
I'm never gonna give them up.
Sounds like we have similar collections. I have "Purple Rain" as well, I remember when I was younger and my mom bought it (I have all her vinyl now) I was shocked cus you could see his butt crack in a few of the picsOh, how nice to be that young and innocent ...
I have a lot of Elvis albums as well, though some are unfortunately scratched. My mom didn't take very good care of her vinyl. I also have the original "Thriller" on vinyl, which is pretty cool. It's hilarious to look at albums from the 80s and see what people thought would be cool fashion and poses that are now captured for an eternity on the album covers. Oh, and it's funny too cus Michael Jackson was actually black at the time.
The POPS and SCRATCHES make for good music. When I was a kid, my dad would always play his vinyls for us. It's all I can remember about growing up. CD's are great and all that, but there's just something about vinyl.

I have "Off The Wall"!!!!
I want my purple rain vinyl back mother f**cker
I have Off the Wall too!
I've seen Purple Rain for sale at a couple of locations.
There really is.
Elton John's tri-fold "Yellow Brick Road" cover just loses it in CD form.
The Who's "Tommy" cover.
Any Pink Floyd cover.
Liner notes, pictures, lyrics. CD's just don't do any of it justice.
And they smelled great!
