The belief that Championship aspirations aren't out of the equation for next year; a sound trade(s) and some savvy moves are in dire need.

Nothing really at this point..we're still in "championship mode", even though we can't win one..there isn't really anything to look forward to at this point, this team is just going through the motions..have to look at next year..

Trade Jefferson in the Summer, his expiring will be a hot commodity..get Splitter on the team..re-sign Manu for a reasonable price..hope Finley retires..try to get another 1 or 2 young players..hope Hill and Blair mature enough to be consistent contributors for next year..hope Hairston is good enough to be a cheap rotation player..

A successful season for me this season would be to see the big 3 together, healthy for the playoffs..not that I think they can win anything(they can't), but just to see them competing in the playoffs together is always good to see as a fan..

It would also be successful for me if we can unload Mason/Finley/Bonner/Bogans and give more minutes to Hill/Blair/Hairston/Ian to see what we have in our young players if they're given good minutes on a consistent basis and in different scenarios..there's nothing to lose at this point anyways..

Another successful scenario would be to see Pop play a real C and PF together for a few games in a row..this one is probably impossible..

For me, t's all about the expectations coming into the season.

Once Tim is gone, and everybody probably follows him, I'll be happy when we just make the playoffs, or reach .500.... but when we're supposed to be one of the elite teams still, barring major injury, I'll settle for nothing less than a championship. I wouldn't call a finals apperence or even WCF a failure, but I wouldn't be happy with it.

This year is just tough to deal with, because the expectations were set to high to begin with.

well speaking for myself, I just wanna see a Spurs team with pride. A team that isnt afraid to challenge a winning team and shows alot of hustle no matter how far they get. If they dont win a le, fine. You cant win them every year. But it's all about pride and this Spurs team just seems so gutless some times which is why I find it hard to root for them.

Based on pre-season expectations for this year, I don't think anything less than the championship will create a successful season.

Which means at this point, this season will go down as one of the most disappointing in Spurs team history and nothing will change that. For me, what will salvage this season will just to see the team go out, compete every night (which could entail giving RJeff the Steve Smith treatment) and try and finish the season befitting a team with their history.

Note: I will not, nor will I ever, advocate the Spurs tanking. I would rather watch this team go down fighting in flames than that. It is an insult to everything Duncan, Parker and Manu have brought to this team to not let them finish out this season on their own terms.

I really want the Spurs and Timmy to have another 50+ Win Season, even though we are struggling. I want that streak to continue as long as possible.

With this current group, and the way they have failed to gel all season, I would be satisfied with a MIRACLE playoff match where we are 8th seed in which we upset a #1 seed Lakers team. Obviously, a miracle, but if this team is totally not championship worthy being Laker killers would hold me over in the off season if we didn't get by the next round.

The Spurs are not the Suns, we will not be satisfied making lemonade out of lemons. We want to be the corporate overlords of the lemon industry and reign over every NBA lemonade stand. Odelay!!!!

Good question. I never thought about that until now. Such high hopes were expected after Jefferson and McDyess were acquired and a really good rookie fell into our laps on draft day.

The big three healthy and the acquired players made me think the team addressed it's needs for winning it this year.

The BIG question is why? How could getting what the team needed and it not working lead one to think the team could do any better than now if it were to have gotten anyone different than who they got?

Jefferson, for what ever reason, does not fit on this team. In the infamous phrase of the Beatles...Money Can't Buy Me Love.

Is McDyess playing as expected? His numbers now indicate he is worth his contract for being a more "situational" big on the team.

Ginobili...healthier than the last couple of seasons...but not the same caliber of player he once played.

Parker...after an early injury prone season is looking like the Parker of last year. But how long will that last regarding the style of play that suits him best?

Duncan...nothing to say except hoping he can remain healthy for the rest of his contract. Without him the team will have no aspiration to even exsist.

Pop. Has he hit his pennecle of greatness from just two years ago? I know it's hard to do more with less. But when you have more or the same and can't seem to command and get the same result...one has to wonder if he's lost control of this team.

Small ball? What turned into an aide and a brilliant move to defeat the Phoenix Suns in the playoffs one year has turned into an addiction that is slowly sucking the life out of a once great franchise who predicated it's success with a complete opposite mentallity to winning.

Developmental players? Apparently they're still developing.

I would guess our best aspiration would be the unknown. Because what is known at this time is this team, for all it's changes from last year, isn't any better than last year and conceivably worse.

As a fan...I would best serve myself to hybernate my expectations until this winter of discontent is over.

Even a MAJOR trade would not help at this point...but it might have to be done now to be the beginning of success next year. Which by the way, IMO, is going to be the LAST year in a Duncan lead Spurs era the team will have a "legitiment" chance to win it all again.

Unfortunately, that's not so with this squad. You think Jefferson, Parker, Ginobili and McDyess are living up to 100% of their potential?

Didn't we say the same thing about Mason, Bonner, Finley and Manu's contract this season?

Absolutely not, and that's the sad thing.

Any normal thinking fan or FO executive should realize by now that championship aspirations are long gone. The Spurs aspiration should only be to rebuild and improve the roster as quick as possible.
