Looking back at the 2009 NBA Draft the two 2nd round steals were Blair and Thornton, but which player would Spurs fans rather have seen taken w/ the 37th pick.
Dejuan Blair or Marcus Thornton?

Thornton is a volume scorer and needs the ball to be effective. Blair all day man.
We don't need any more undersized guards.
how about jack mcclinton or marcus thornton just to picks afterward
Blair. Two guards who can occasionally light it up grow on trees. Guys who can grab 20 boards don't.
It would have come down to Thornton or Hairston. We had 14 guaranteed contracts in camp.
Jonas Jerebko was a great steal aswell. wish we could of grabbed him.
Blair is, by far, the steal of the draft. If Pop gave him more minutes he would be fighting for the rookie of the year award, as he proved in the rookie challenge.
BLAIR!!!! You can't get big men that late in the draft that often.
For this specific team, DEFINITELY Blair. I think we have enough scoring and if i recall Thornton had maturity issues albeit it was with Bryon Scott.
If I were new orleans, I would still pick Blair, they obviously lack toughness and rebounding.
Blair.
He's a hard worker and just wants to win. I think when Thornton becomes much more popular he'll leave the Hornets for a winning team and demand alot of money.
Blair. He's a better player now, has a higher upside and positionally fits a greater need for the Spurs. Thornton looks like a better version of Murray. A quality off the bench scorer; 6th man at best, 8th at worst. Blair, on the other hand, looks like a quality second big and someone who can easily average a double double. Big difference.
As a rule, good bigs are harder to find than good small players IMO. Really though, its a case of which player fills a team's needs. For the Spurs, that's Blair.
Blair!!
Btw. there was a nice article of him in Slam, led; the rookie monster![]()
lol bias ass Spurs fans. why even post these types of questions?
son Thornton has 3 years left under his rookie contract, plus he is from Louisiana.
You'd be surprised how many stupid Spurs fans would want a chucker over a premium rebounder.
blair
LMAO! dude Blair is only grabbing 6 rebounds a game! what an incredible rebounder!!!!
also LOL at people saying Thornton is an undersized guard ... WTF do you think Blair is? he is terribly undersized at his position at only 6'7!
On a per minute basis, he's a more productive rebounder than Tim Duncan and all but three other people in the NBA. He's quite a good rebounder.
sons all I'm saying is that questions/polls like this are pointless on here. it wouldn't matter WHO was in the discussion, most of you will side with the Spurs players everytime. in this situation, Thornton is CLEARLY the better player SO FAR ... but most of you simply just turn the other cheek.
