The Power of $3
“The power of $3.” That’s a line David Robinson dropped on me in a recent conversation regarding a current Carver Academy fundraiser. Robinson is asking Spurs fans to donate as little as $3 to the work of the Carver Academy.
Robinson has personally donated 10 million.
San Antonio’s Hall of Fame center is thinking about the future, and he’s hoping to use the power of social networking and the principles of microfinance to create a stable financial base for The Carver Academy.
“Things are so connected now, there’s so much connectivity, that we want to use that to appeal to folks to help with the work of the Academy,” Robinson said.
Specifically, the Carver Academy has teamed with the people at Pink Dingo to provide a way for fans to donate–or, more precisely, micro donate–to the work of the Carver Academy through The Admiral Challenge.

We should have a draw for some lucky regular user and then we all donate under his recruits. Might give someone out the board a chance of a life time....
Just looked and the leader has 24. We could easily get someone more than that here!!
Bump.
Wow, right now there are only about 500 people who have signed up for a shot at this. Great odds![]()
a private religious school? no thanks, admiral.
just out of curiosity..
if the Admiral had been supporting a government controlled atheist school, would you have donated?
Hmm. I signed up for this and now there's no record of the donation I made yesterday. And the site also claims there are NO donors from Austin when there were several yesterday. I tried to sign in, none of the usual passwords worked. Tried to recover my password, it said it sent it, but then I entered a fake address, and it said it sent one to that address, as well.
Not feeling very good about this - do any of you other donors have similar problems??
