Wouldn't take Tebow in the third? But he had no problem taking that A&M QB in the 4th. I don't even thing that guy saw more than 10 plays

No it does not. Lots of people think Tebow is going to suck ass, Romo was a FA that turned into a all pro aka miracle and Parcells has not won a super bowl in 20 years. FYI, I ing hate Jerry Jones.

Tebow will have a better career than any QB Jerry Jones has ever drafted not named Aikmen.

Jerrah Jones needs an O-line not a QB

Considering Jones has only drafted 3 maybe 4 QBs since Aikman (1989) thats not a tough call.

Now I get all the time for this. I think Carter could have been a good QB. He got hooked on drugs after her went 10-6. I think McGee and Musgrave(? spelling) were the only other two. And they were late rounders.

There was Steve Walsh the same year Aikman was drafted but everyone knew they were trading him eventually.

Trading for Drew Henson should count as well. Also picking up Ryan Leaf.

As draft picks. I don't think so.

No doubt Cowboys have had some ty QBs since Aikman. As GM, Jones has to take responsibilty. I was just saying his drunken comments were not as off base as you suggested they were. I really do hate the mother er and have no clue why I am defending him. Peace!

I'd count Henson as a draft pick. They basically used a draft pick to trade for him to prevent him from re-entering the draft. So he used a draft pick on someone that was going to be in the draft....

You can't count someone who wasn't drafted as a draft pick...the Henson deal would fall under the category "stupid-ass deals Jerry Jones has made".

Not that this video isn't hilarious but how do you even tell that's Jerry Jones? I'm not gonna put it past him to say like this, but this video is terrible quality! I can't even make out anyone's face. It's so badly pixelated it could just be some drunk ass that looks like him that these guys got to act like Jerry Jones.

DMN contacted the Cowboys for comment and they refused comment. If it actually wasn't him they'd be releasing a denial statement.

Some news outlets owe Jerry Jones an apology

Column by TIM COWLISHAW / The Dallas Morning News | [email protected]

For those waiting for an NFL suspension of Jerry Jones or an apology from the Cowboys owner ... don't hold your breath.

If anything, I think the "mainstream" news outlets, including The Dallas Morning News, that ran the video of Jones caught on a camera phone in a bar criticizing Bill Parcells and Tim Tebow, owe Jones an apology.

It once was much easier to determine the journalism world from the entertainment gossip scene. The distinction between investigation and illation got blurred a long time ago.

But prominent news organizations have clearly-defined rules and source policies when it comes to reporters breaking news. How do those get tossed aside when Deadspin or other popular Web sites that don't even pretend to care about journalistic integrity manufacture "news" on someone else's camera phones?

I understand the argument that what Jones said was of public interest. He ripped his ex-coach, suggesting that a primary reason for his hiring of Parcells was to get the new stadium funded. He criticized Tebow (although plenty of NFL scouts question Tebow's NFL pedigree, and Jones mostly said Tebow had no place in Dallas).

Hey, I'm extremely glad that I don't make daily decisions for a newspaper or TV news organization as to what's news and what's gossip. I would make a lot of bad calls, I have no doubt.

Local media were all over the board. One TV station led the news with it; two ignored it completely. Channel 8 went with the video but permitted anchor Dale Hansen to issue a strong disclaimer (insert two hands clapping here).

I just think we made the wrong call, even if the story was downplayed on the inside of the sports section.

Let those who have an interest in this video find it elsewhere. That's OK if some other site gets the hits for a day. The next big story is never more than 24 hours away.

I know what people are capable of saying in bars. I know what I have said while standing around bars.

Sometimes you speak the unvarnished truth. And sometimes you just talk out your backside. And a lot of times the next morning you have no recollection of those statements that seemed like such clever pronouncements at the time.

So I don't care what Jones said, and the NFL has given no indication that it will investigate the matter.

It wasn't something they necessarily taught at the University of Texas journalism school, but a lot of us learned how to use bars as information-gathering centers many years ago. It was a springboard, a place to begin to get a feel for a story, not somewhere to conduct surrep ious recordings.

There's much less of this type of communication between reporters and players or, in this case, owners these days.

People either fear the camera phones or, depending upon one's level of fame, just don't want to put up with the fans' scrutiny.

I heard it said several times today that a public figure such as Jerry Jones should know better in this era. And I hate that opinion.

I give Jerry credit – to the extent that he has considered his options here – for deciding that he's not going to accept the "well, that's the kind of world we live in" excuse.

When the world becomes a slightly more dangerous place, some people add six locks to their doors, the latest in alarm systems and a loaded gun in the dresser while never going out at night.

Others decide they aren't going to live that way. They refuse to accept new rules and are willing to face the consequences.

Jones has made bigger, bolder statements in bars before, including one that eventually led to his parting ways with coach Jimmy Johnson (although Johnson had one foot out the door already).

But at those 1994 NFL owners' meetings, Dallas Morning News reporters Rick Gosselin and Ed Werder met with Jones the next day to get him on the record following what had been accepted as an off-the-record discussion the night before.

That's how things were done. Maybe it wasn't perfect, but there were rules that both sides mostly understood.

The rules are gone. Now anybody with a tail in one hand and a hidden camera phone in the other can make news and get it in newspapers and on Web sites all around the country.

Some might see that as a way to open doors to more journalists.

I see it as justification for public figures, fearful of the modern consequences, to slam the doors on those of us with notepads or microphones once and for all.
