i have the ASUS 1000HE. i upgraded to 2GB of ram (derp ) and installed an HP mini-pcie WiFi card to replace the stock one. found out that the particular HP model is the same card used for the Macbook Pros.

reason i did that was because the stock card needed some funky kexts (drivers) for OSX that didn't work consistently, and in Windows, wireless N only used 20Hz, which means only a 150Mbps for a WLAN N connection, as apposed to a 40Hz 300Mbps connection. this replacement card was just plug and play with both OS's

    what i did in a nuts :

    • Wiped HDD
    • Installed iDeneb (a hacked distro of OSX 1.5.7) because I didn't have a real Mac to work with
    • Used iDeneb to create a USB drive for 10.6 SL.
    • Installed "netbookinstaller" (literally hosted on Google) onto the USB drive
    • Popped in Windows 7 install
    • Converted the boot record from MBR (windows/dos) to GPT from command prompt (which supports Apple's GUID and MS's MBR)
    • Created par ions
    • Installed SL
    • Without booting into SL, installed Windows 7
    • Grabbed EasyBCD to add a boot entry for OSX
    • Booted back into the SL USB drive to install the "netbookinstaller" application
    • ???
    • Profit

Wordy, but them fellas at the insanelymac forums and smallcomputing forums are INCREDIBLE sources for help. look up information on the terms "OSX86" or "hackintosh", and you'll find TONS of information out there.

should you be so inclined to do the same as i have, i wish you luck.

I got an ASUS 1001p a few weeks ago. Came with W7 Starter (crap), currently running W7 Ultimate, eventually will run Arch Linux or OpenBSD (depends on what I do with my desktop).

Not great, but not bad as a secondary system. And for less than $300.
