do it x1000....gay is perfect fit for the system....and he is a defensive minded player.....
This could be a great move for the Spurs. Do you guys think it would be possible to get a sign & trade deal done with the Grizzlies. They sign him to a contract we would like and then we send them Jefferson who is like a 14-15M expiring plus maybe cash or picks or something. The Spurs should really take a look at this, look at the Lakers/Grizzlies deal a couple years ago, anything can happen. The Spurs want to get more athletic and are said to be interested in restricted free agent forward Rudy Gay.

He would definitely help the Spurs, but not at $10+ million a season. The Spurs would be better off drafting a SF at pick #20 and paying him a rookie salary. Overpaying for a small forward can really hurt a team from filling out the more important positions.
Holy that would be amazing.
well duh lol
yah, i always thought he'd be great for the spurs, but i never really said anything cuz i kinda figured he'd be a griz for life. really hope it happens!
I prefer Orange Juice and Mayonnaise
I think that it would be reasonable for the Spurs to pay him 10+M a year, maybe around 11M for like 5-6 years because this can be our future star. He already is a leader on the Grizzlies at age 22-23 and just imagine what kind of firepower he can give the Spurs, scorer, plays defense, we can even develop him, just look at what happened to Georgie in a year. If we can pay Jefferson 14M for a year and basically a role player who averaged 9 points in the playoffs we can afford to pay him 60-70M for 5-6 years.
That would be slick, but almost too good to be true. Who would Memphis want, and what would be their incentive?
that shows how much u know about him
gay averaged 19.6ppg, 5.9rpg, 1.5 stealspg and 0.8blockspg for the griz...those are pretty good numbers for a SF...
19.6ppg, 4.6rpg, .8steals pg and .2blocks pg for Richard Jefferson as a Buck....
means nothing until he does it for the Spurs.
Rudy is the #1 option for the Griz and so was Jefferson with the Bucks. Im not saying not to pursue him, but this is just a warning label.
would u agree gay is much younger and much athletic compared to richard...and moreover richard was askd to defend well being a 4th scoring option on the team...
we already have a gay, its richard jefferson...adding anymore gays to the roster would turn us into the FAB 5
o damn that would be sick and can shoot also but a restricted free agent I wonder how that could work hes a 10 million a year player could do they do a sign and trade for jefferson?
Yes, yes and yes. RJ straight up for Gay? yeah.
well if we could get Gay for RJ, it's worth a gamble. But Gay isn't worth parting with Parker, Manu, TD, Blair, or Hill.
Unfortunately, it would cost us "you know who"......
That's the Spurs conundrum really, to trade Parker means that we need a solid PG in return. Perhaps we could throw RJeffs expiring out there and see if they bite. That would require us to take another random scrub making at least 2.5-3 mil per from them though......
i would not trade parker for gay.
Gay is a better shooter and defender.. but Im not sure he would have the type of impact everyone expects. We would have to sign him long term and if he doesnt work out like RJ didnt - he would be a lot harder to trade.
Salaries dont work. You'd necessarily need to take another contract off the Grizzlies hands. Also, what do you offer Gay? The 10 ml he was making with the Grizz? More?
That's going to be up to the Grizzlies unfortunately. Gay is restricted.
LMAO @ everyone getting their panties in a wad over Rudy ing Gay. He's a defensive minded player? WTF!!! No, he is a chucker. The Spurs system could help him out and he probably is better than but he certainly isn't a defense first guy.
i feel the same way, to quote Singletary, I want winners.
Mayo would be ing sweet, Gay? No thanks.
hill..20 pick for gay
