I always flop in a pickup game.
Just a random thought... In playing 20+ years of pickup, I've only seen people fall as the result of someone else a few times. Watching an NBA game I see it happen 5 or 6 times each game. In fact, I've seen people fall as a result of slippery courts or slick painted lines about 10x that of contact with other players.
If someone flopped ever playing pickup, they'd get called out and probably would be to embarrassed to ever come back and play again.
I guess if the games meant something and there was someone to buy it, pickup ballers would start falling down left and right too.
I always flop in a pickup game.
flopping can occur on offense too, tons of guys drive the lane and then flail around like fish out of water so yes i have seen someone flop during a pick up game
I don't dare try it. There's a guy who flopped trying to draw a charge and other players still mention it years later. Who the tries to draw a charge playing pickup? He still plays and it's mostly forgotten, but comes up occasionaly.
+1 You'd get laughed off the court.![]()
u flop? never expect to get invited to play again...thats just how it is
Never thought of this but now that you mention it, no, never seen anyone flop in pick-up. Pretty sure never seen anyone try to take a charge in pick-up either. Now, in league basketball games, I've seen people take charges, and league basketball is just slightly more organized pick-up but at least there are referees and the games count for the league. But pick-up? Nah. Have some guys that kind of verbal flop on drives to the basket and call foul every single time down, but I don't necessarily equate that to real flopping. I think I'd just probably laugh if someone tried to flop in pick-up.
Jokes aside, it depends on the situation. Sometimes I play with real s that call stupid weak fouls on every single play and pisses me off to the point where I start calling foul for everytime they touch me and sometimes flop to let them know their being complete asshats on the court.
@ taking a charge in pickup. Offensive fouls are just rarely called in general.
I've only seen offensive fouls called if someone gets Karl Maloned in the face, and it's not usually from the person who got nailed.
Fat people that think they're good are the worst. There was this 6'3 320 pound cholo that use to play at my gym. He basically offensive fouls everyone that attempts to defend him with his fat ing man s and whale ass. And he has the gall to call a foul whenever he misses a layup, which is often.
cool story bro
What's gayer, someone who tries to take a charge, or the guy who you've been curbstomping all game long that by some crazy fluke manages to get a piece of one of your shots and then jumps around like he won the NBA championship cuz he just "swatted your " right before his team loses the game 12-5, him having given up half those points?
I ask because one might have happened to me recently.
Don't let the fluke block happen. It's your own fault.
Their reaction is probably, "What's with this got named Ashraf who listens to Brittney Spears and calls soft fouls?"
Every time I'm playing pickup BB against Euros, there is a lot of flopping
These tools at a game about a month ago were callling fouls on everything so my buddy and I made a point to flop on there moving screens, and as we took it to the hole just started screaming like gasol with minimal contact hahaha.. needless to say everyone but those guys thought it was funny, they ended up leaving after 1 game of it.
One thing I also hate about pick up which has been a way bigger problem recently because of the Phoenix LA series is gots who have no idea how to properly play it but always whine about wanting to play zone. Most people who play pick up can knock high school 3's down with relative ease, so zones aren't gonna work regardless, but the people who always wanna play zone are the people too lazy and stupid to make the proper rotations you need to make in a zone.
It wouldn't work...you'd get laughed at, and no way in would you get the ball anyway.
Can't imagine people playing zone or getting away with flops in the circles where I play pickup. There are some unwritten rules.
You practically have stab someone in the heart to have an offensive foul called they are so rare.
