good luck!
I made an announcement here a while back regarding our new brewery venture here in San Antonio and some people indicated they wanted updates as available so I wanted to make this thread to help keep interested parties informed as to our progress.
The biggest piece of news is that Busted Sandal Brewing Company is the recent recipient of a brand new TABC issues Brewer's Permit! That means, in the eyes of our state govenment, we are legally allowed to brew in Texas. For those who have looked into the process, it is long, bersome and expensive so we are very happy to have that part behind us.
Also, we have selected our new logos. The non-official "Spurs" version is currently my avatar. The official logos are available for viewing on our recently redesigned website. Feel free to take a look at www.bustedsandalbrewing.com to view them and the updated site.
Finally, feel free to follow us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/BustedSandalBrewing and Twitter at http://twitter.com/bustedsandal for more frequent updates. This thread will be more of a milestones and discussion thread.
Thanks!
Rob aka Notorious HOP
Not bad but I'm thinking that there may be some bad connections that could be made with that name.
About the closest thing that would have a chance to pass the label approval process might be something like a high gravity hazelnut brown called Nut Buster Brown. The high alcohol would be like the proverbial kick in the nuts. But even that name would be questionable.
Plus Big Snack may take offense.
Congrats on your worthwhile investment. can stocks be purchased?
He is currently putting together an information packet for potential investors. There are rules to this type of offering that I'm not familiar with so I won't say too much yet but you can PM me and I'll pass your information along.
Don't you think you should buy me an Otter Box before making any other big purchases?
You got mentioned here:

I would but I am getting the samsung galaxy on black Friday.
I call this an update thread but forgot to post this article. Thanks for taking care of this for me!
The article was supposed to have been a "homebrewers going pro" article but eventually filled out into a full recap of the San Antonio brewing scene and we are glad to be a future part of it.
The new news from Busted Sandal Brewing is that we have paid for our 10 barrel brewing system so its construction will begin soon.
Are you going to have a bar where you brew?
Off topic, but I just got a call from my husband this weekend with the news that 2 of his entries won their categories and went to Best In Show round at the FOAM Cup Homebrew Compe ion in Oklahoma. It's just his 2nd compe ion
Looking forward to the new place N.H.O.P.![]()
Any pics or links?
The mere fact you gave us an update on a topic you made is historic. Some posters will ask for help naming a softball team and after 4 pages of very creative names by the other posters you never hear back from them on what name they had chosen.
I found that rather odd and rude to say the least. But back to my question have you thought about doing a do entary film of the Busted Sandal?
We will have a tasting room that will be open on the weekend but due to Texas law, we cannot have a traditional bar with alcohol sales. In Texas, a brewpub can brew beer and sell it onsite but not offsite. A brewery can brew beer but can't sell onsite, only offsite. That is why you don't see Freetail beer at HEB or Ranger Creek selling beer by the pint at their brewery.
Now THAT is the way to start out of the homebrewing compe ion gate! What were the categories he entered?
As I prepare to go pro, I lament that I never got into the compe ion part of homebrewing. But hopefully I'll have plenty of time to do that at the next level.
Haven't thought about doing a do entary but I was just mentioning the other day that I'd like to do a mockumentary.
The walls in our leased space are perfectly placed for what we want to do. Unfortunately, due to new laws and requirements, we need to build a bathroom in an area that was previously reserved for cold storage. The new building plans have been completed and we are starting demolition work today. Sledge hammers and power tools galore. Time to let out the frustrations that have been building up as a result of the various waiting times and delays.
If I survive the demolition process, I'll keep providing updates here.
Demolition is done! We will be taking bids on construction this week and hope to have a signed contract with a GC soon. We have a few photos of the demolition on our Facebook page. Stop by and check them out.

As a side note, we recently had a private homebrew tasting to evaluate some concepts that we have been considering. We have dialed down to five potential staples and several seasonal possibilities. Eventually we will likely open with two or three initial beers and slowly expand out.
I totally missed this thread, this is awesome news.. the more breweries the better! Make SA proud.
Been a while since I posted an update so here is the catch up.
We were unaware until yesterday that we were mentioned in an article in the Current about the expansion of the brewery scene in SA. Here is the link.

For those of you that are following our Twitter or Facebook page, you know that we have already started construction in the brewery space. We are on target to receive our 10 BBl brewing system in March and we are hoping to have our first beers out in May.
We received a batch of pint glasses laser etched with our logo and will likely be making those available for sale soon. There is a picture of the glass, filled with beer of course, on our Facebook page. We are also checking out places around town where we might be able to get shirts, koozies and hats made.
Thanks for checking in with us!
Can we have a SpursTalk Day there?![]()
I want a shirt!
I want a beer!
That went without saying.
