A darn good story. Sad to hear about his kids... I don't know if I could choose between my wife and children. Hope I never have to worry about that.

That's a tough turn of events for Rodney.

He seems like a really nice guy. I think it says a lot about a person's character when, after making $26M+ in an NBA career, he goes to work after his balling days driving trucks and operating machinery. He is obviously a hard worker and someone who likes to get things done.

I think the saddest part of the story is:

"His family, with the exception of his two brothers, has cut ties over financial disputes, even though his mother and sister live 20 minutes away."

Not sure exactly what that means, but I would assume a lot of his family have become bitter toward him feeling he should have given them more of the $26M+ he made.

Of course, he never got $26M+ to begin with. Taxes took half. Agent another 4-5%. Still, he probably cleared $10M, right?

Cut that up among relatives/friends/acquaintances with $$$ in their eyes, how far do you think that would go? How much is enough? Answer: more.

I am hoping he still has a lot of money in reserve as his care is likely to be very, very expensive.
