Not sure if this has been posted, but apparently this was mentioned by Paul Forrester of SI.com...
TRAIL VULTURES?: Hot on the news that GM Kevin Pritchard will be escorted out the door after tonight's draft comes word from Brian T. Smith of the Columbian that the Blazers have already interviewed Spurs GM R.C. Buford and Thunder GM Sam Presti for the job. With owner Paul Allen's deep pockets, Portland might make an offer one of those two can't refuse.

Ol' Paul Allen just can't stay away from products of the Spurs organization, can he ...
Why would any potential GM want that job right now?
just what I thought!
I highly doubt RC has been interviewed for this job.
my thought is why the heck would Buford want to leave SA for Portland...unless its all about money..of course Portland always likes sloppy seconds anyway..
After seeing how Paul Allen treats GM's, I'm sure they'll jump at the opportunity.
BS rumors.
Presti and Buford are both under contract and no interview with either one is possible without the permission of their current teams. When clubs give permission for their execs to interview with other teams, like Lindsey with Phoenix, that information becomes public. Plus Presti has emphatically denied any contact Portland.
The Spurs have always allowed their FO and coaching personnel to interview for better positions in other organizations. Buford is already a GM and given the way Pritchard was fired, it is extremely unlikely that the next GM in Portland will have more authority than Buford already has in San Antonio.
It's not just about money, it's about job security.
Reading comprehension:

I want Pritchard
Ya know how people disguise saying the word "bull " with a cough or sneeze?
Pritchard got a really raw deal, IMO. I wonder what's really going on behind the scenes in Portland.
See, this how internet BS works. SI runs a draft day blog which includes a post from one its contributors that says:
comes word from Brian T. Smith of the Columbian that the Blazers have already interviewed Spurs GM R.C. Buford and Thunder GM Sam Presti for the job
This is then picked up by other sites and shows up in so many different places that it begins to assume an air of credibility.
If you look just a little bit, however, you can find the original article by Brian T. Smith which actually says this about Buford and Presti:
While Pritchard was still employed, Portland used a search firm, Spencer Stuart, to evaluate possible replacements, sources have informed The Columbian. The firm has reportedly contacted Oklahoma City GM Sam Presti, San Antonio GM R.C. Buford and former Cleveland GM Danny Ferry.
A Spencer Stuart representative said the firm would neither deny nor confirm the report.
So there it is. No interview. Not even any confirmed contact.
Well, Danny Ferry is there for the taking.
They've stockpiled young talent and help on to it probably more than they needed to. Not that long ago Chicago was stockpiling talent and turned down some big trades that could have pushed them up.
I'm not saying this is what the argument was about but the owner wanted greater results. Perhaps he wanted to draft Durant? Perhaps he thinks Pritchard is an asshole?
Who knows? It sounds like some serious personality conflicts combined with expectations not met.
RC has such a great fit with ownership and Pop I can't imagine him going for this...unless it was a lot of money.
Well thanks for clearing that up....I knew not to take much warrant off of blogs, but its good to hear that there was no interview that took place..Appreciate the find..
Spurs fans should be hoping this is true.
R.C. interviewing for the Blazers job, with that political house of cards they have up there? Fiddlesticks.
cool! if he leaves maybe he will do us a solid and give us roy or oden for nothing.
Excellent post.
I agree. I want RC Buford out.
Now that's just silly talk.
Isnt R.C the one who built this roster?
