The Hawks may want a more traditional, bigger lineup to matchup with the Magic, and Celtics. Sliding Horford over to PF and having Shaq next to him solves those matchup problems. Plus, they realise they will have to pay Horford soon and they dont want two near max guys next to an existing max guy in JJ, and probably feel they can get similar production from Shaq and Horford that Smith and Horford would give them. If thats their reasoning, then i can understand because Horford > Smith IMO.
Smith has probably come close to reaching his potential given he is an athletic shot blocker/rebounder and gets most of his points from his athleticism. Horford on the other hand could develop into a 20-10-3 type of guy who can open up opportunities for others from the post - thats pretty hard to find.
first giving joe a max for 6 years and then shopping josh smith ... and then trying to get shaq .. all in the same summer... they need to hire better security in atl cause the fans are getting to many kicks in the teeth for one summer.
it's not good deal for Spurs, Parker better than Smith!
Horford is too short,,,,he's a rat hole, and they're wasting their time.
