Cowboy stadium, new meadowlands stadium, reliant stadium, u of phx stadium. those alone are better than the ones in South Africa. And also check your stats The 1994 World Cup was the most attended tournament in the history of the event.

And to think England didn't even qualify for that. Imagine how many English would have traveled and bought tickets...

On one side i like it to be hosted in the USA. Would be pretty cool, but I agree as some others said. Its a shame that its not a real football nation, if only football was more popular in the USA than it is now.

But then again, I think it will be popular, more than in 1994. Football is already more popular and popularity is increasing. So I like it if it was held there.

Netherlands is also bidding together with Belgium

no chances, 1994 is too close. I think only Germany, Italy and France have held the WC more than 1 time.

    Germany 1974, 2006
    France 1938, 1998
    Italy 1934, 1990
    Brazil 1950, 2014.

It would probably have to be an emergency like 86 was for Mexico. I remember hearing a few years ago that South Africa wasn't going to be ready for this WC and that the backup plan was USA

The thing with America is that most countries are in no condition to organize a cup, unlike a good part of Europe. Asia is somewhat the same, that's why it was a Korea/Japan tandem when it happened. So you'll see more repe ions in American than you see in Europe if they're going to keep the 'one in Europe, one outside of Europe' order.

Most attended because the games where in big football stadiums, some old, mostly not even with a roof for protection against sun or rain and all.

The cup with the best soccer stadiums where 2006, because it was big stadiums build for soccer only.

I would prefer even Mexico again over the USA. Holland/Belgium or England anywaay because the whole country would go nuts.

I dont know why your trying to turn this into some petty debate. The USA hosted the most popular World CUp ever. Either way it doesn't matter the new Super Stadiums we have are equipped with Retractable roofs.

I strongly disagree. The stadiums in mexico are a complete joke. I regularly go to Tec and El Volcan in Monterrey (once World Cup stadiums) and see people pissing in the sinks and . Not to mention Mexico is pretty damn dangerous right now

I've been to stadiums around the world, and I have to say that the USA have the nicest stadiums that exist today.

Why it was the most popular?
"Average attendance was nearly 69,000, which broke records that had stood since the 1950 World Cup, because of the bigger capacities of the American stadiums compared to those of Europe and Latin America. The total attendance of nearly 3.6 million for the final tournament remains the highest in World Cup history, despite the expansion of the compe ion from 24 to 32 teams (and from 52 to 64 matches) in the 1998 World Cup."
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_FIFA_World_Cup

"because of the bigger capacities of the American stadiums compared to those of Europe and Latin America" Desperate attempt at an argument

"despite the expansion of the compe ion from 24 to 32 teams (and from 52 to 64 matches) in the 1998 World Cup." Solidifies my conclusion

But again this thread wasn't an open forum for a petty debate this was to make the forum members aware of the USA bid pe ion.

Yes, sure the infrastructure would be worse than somewhere else.

Crime sure. But hey, take as tourist in a major us city the wrong highway exit and you can be ed pretty quick.

What i meant: In Mexico you could "see and breath" the cup in every single street, store, bar etc. In germany it was 4 weeks a big public party, no matter where u was, even in small cities. You could not escape from the worldcup. Same will be 2014, same would be in a country like mexico or england.

And thats something a cup in the USA just could not deliver. Nothing against the USA, but its different in there. It doesnt matter if in the stadiums are 70000 or 60000 in average, that not the sign for the "most popular" cup...

And when the US was playing in this cup did you not see the places that were packed? You don't think that in 8 years it will be even greater?

Your argument is ridiculous because it completely ignores how far the US fan base has come in the 16 years since 94. 1994 served to change a lot of things in the United States regarding soccer and its been growing ever since.

And Mexico is not getting a cup anytime soon. I'm sorry but that country is a completely failed state at the moment and I can't see FIFA placing a cup there until that has changed.

Yeah sure the fan base got maybe larger since 94.

But its still ridiculous to think it would be the same (or somewhere near) like in a freaking soccer breathing country like Germany, England or Brazil

I was 2006 in germany and i spend half of the year in brazil, so i can imagine how the whole country will stop in 2014 for one giant party....

USA getting the cup in 2022 and you can ask one month before the cup the average american where is the next soccer cup and at least half of them wouldnt even know it. Sad but true.
