Antoine Walker has officially begun his NBA comeback in the NBA D-League, a week and a half after FanHouse's initial report, and will suit up for the Idaho Stampede against the Dakota Wizards on Wednesday evening in Boise, Idaho.
Walker, a three-time NBA All-Star and 12-year NBA veteran, will join a Stampede team that has lost its first seven games of the season but features former NBA draft picks Luke Jackson and Salim Stoudamire and is helmed by Randy Livingston, an 11-year NBA veteran himself. Assistant coach Greg Minor also has a connection with Walker, as the two were teammates for three seasons as members of the Boston Celtics.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to get to play basketball at a compe ive level and also excited and thankful that the Idaho Stampede and Randy are giving me this opportunity to play. I love the game," Walker said during a press conference Tuesday in which the Stampede announced the acquisition.

How stupid can your ass get?
I'd like to believe that these guys get extensive financial counseling when they sign those contracts. If not, it definitely behooves Stern to protect his "investments" in this regard. Not that classes will stop a sufficient amount of stupidity, as in the case of Walker. Just wondering what sort of support systems players have in place. Most have never held a minimum wage job much less handled millions of dollars. One would figure that fear of going back to where you came would be sufficient for most. Perhaps not though.
110 million.......that's just an asinine amount of money. I wouldn't even know where to begin to spend that. Maybe Spurs season tickets, but besides that......

At age 34, after having been out of compe ive basketball for two years, what does Antoine Walker really have left in the tank?
Maybe a little something, after reading reports of his first game with the Idaho Stampede. Walker, teamed with Blazers first rounder and new D-Leaguer Luke Babbitt, got Idaho its first win of the season, and had 13 points on 5-11 shooting, six rebounds and three assists, according to Scott Schroeder of FanHouse.
The best description of his night came from Jay King of Celtics Blog.
Walker, as he has always done, made his coaches smile (his distribution yesterday was fantastic), and frown (one three-pointer fell a yardstick short of the rim). He could handle the ball like no other big man on the floor; like few guards, really. He took too many three-pointers (of course he did; he finished 0-3), but at his best Walker was driving by slower, less creative bigs. He was finding open shooters in the corner. He was utilizing the many basketball talents God gifted to him, talents Walker has so often squandered with poor decision-making and conditioning. And yes, he also notched his first D-League technical foul.
Walker’s conditioning — always an issue in the best of times — needs a lot of work. As you would expect. But maybe, just maybe there is still something there of value to an NBA team. We’ll have to see how he looks as the rust shakes off over the next few weeks.
