It is what it is, no point in getting injured every year. It's do or die this time around.

Yao may retire after season if foot not fully healed

BEIJING (AP) -- Houston Rockets center Yao Ming says he may quit basketball after next season if he doesn't fully recover from his foot injury.
In comments to Chinese state media Monday, Yao sounded far from optimistic about his future and also made a rare criticism of China's national basketball program.
Yao missed last season after foot surgery. He tells Xinhua News Agency he doubts he will play at the 2012 London Olympics. He says if the injury does not heal next season he "might choose to call it quits."
Yao also says Chinese basketball administrators were too focused on the Beijing Olympics and neglected developmental teams and the domestic professional league.
It is what it is, no point in getting injured every year. It's do or die this time around.
chinese overment doesn't care anymore. they already have chinese scientists working on an improved Yao clone
Poor Rockets. Poor Double.
Sayonara!
Yao is great for the NBA…I hope he can get healthy…
Wow! A non-hater on spurstalk?? Unreal...
I ain't going nowhere fool. I was here before Yao and I'll be here afterwards, although I can't say the same for bandwagoning fans like you.

You just keep pluggin' away, fartface.
He better watch his ass.
Good news for the Rockets
Yea I guess so but his contract expires at the end of next season anyways.
If he doesn't retire Houston's money grubbing owner will still give him a new contract because he makes money off Yao regardless of how much Yao hurts that team.
Would most(non Asian) rockets fans like to see him try to heal up or would you rather be done with him?
& you were so close in the Summer of '09, Double. Then the roof caved in and you've been in the caca ever since.
Oh, well, Doub, saylarvee.
I suppose he only wants to quit his National Team, as also Ilgauskas did. Even if he comes back, he cannot play every Summer, like he did until last season. So I guess he wants to prepare Chinese guys to what is going to happen.
I think he'll be back, and he'll be healthy. Ilgauskas healed from a similar injury, became slower, but he's still playing right now. He just didn't committ anymore with the Lithuanian national team. Yao from now will only play for the Rockets, maybe also 2012 Olympic Games, but nothing more than that...
Too bad for his foot he didn't take this at ude towards his national team from day 1.
He's not gonna magically stop being injury prone even if his foot heals like it should. I'd rather him ride off in the sunset...you just can't build a championship caliber team around a guy who can't stay healthy, that's a known fact.
You were here before 2002?
I didn't even know this place existed back then.
I meant being a rocketfan brah.
Feels like Yao's been retired for several years now.
We don't need Yao to represent the Asian market...we have Jeremy Lin up in Oakland, CA!!!
Some guys, you're glad to see get out of the league.
Yao isn't one of them.
