Mark Cuban doesn't really care about owning the Texas Rangers. All he cares about is making money and he's the best at it! While he has been approved to bid on the Rangers next week, he has also been quietly buying up the team's debt "which would make him both a bidder and a creditor." So by bidding in the bankruptcy auction he can drive up the price (whether he wins the team or not) thereby putting more money in the creditor's (his) pockets. Playing both sides against the middle. Like I said... genius!
