A group of tourists sits in a bus that is passing through gorgeously beautiful country;lakes, mountains, rivers, meadows, etc.
The shades of the bus are pulled down and they have no idea of what lies beyond the windows of the bus.
All of the time on their journey is spent in squabbling over who will have the seat of honor in the bus,who will be applauded and who will be well considered.
...
and so they remain until the journey's end.
There's already a thread for this:

...no...it is not actually a cool story,bro...
It is your story,my story, his story, her story...ALL of our story...
and it is pretty pathetic.
but they arrived at their destination, correct? They were probably going to Six Flags.
Meh, speak for yourself. I would've pulled those shades up and stared out the window for a few hours.
lol trying to be all philosophical
even if they look out the window and see the sights, they are still on the bus.
Which is better......to sit and watch TV [on a bus] or spend time with your friends [on a bus]?
The on is unnecessary
what kind of stupid tour bus company pulls down all the shades?
Well, that is the point of the parable isn't it.
It is not to literally discuss a tour bus, it is to ponder on the fact that a lot of people--myself included...
have spent most of our lives worrying and wasting all of our lives trying to achieve something, trying to acquire things, trying to be accepted, praised, honored, promoted,etc..
instead of actually being here now and enjoying this beautiful thing we call life on this beautiful place we call earth,etc...
It was just to discuss something positive for a change...and not to try and disprove this guy or that theory or that religion...
it was just a little spiritual exercise to remind ourselves of , maybe, getting back to the basics and being in every moment...
cheers
