Lakers have the 2 toughest players in the league on their squad.![]()
That's b/c you don't form your own opinions. Kobe is tougher than Ron by the way; Ron is just the "scariest black guy" in the league. Oh and that's physically btw. Kobe Bryant played through multiple injuries the past two seasons, but he was also whining about his teammates, asking to be traded (putting him on the same mental toughness level as Melo), and "mysteriously" disappearing when his team needed him the most (i.e. the suns series before Gasol was traded, and the finals the year of the Gasol trade).
Anyways, the other things that I have problems with on the list: Tim Duncan is not on the same leadership level as Derek Fisher, he may have a similar style, but Tim commands more respect. If there was a category for "Best leader WITHOUT being a bag" Tim would win, however Kobe antagonizes his way to the top of the leadership rankings imo (and since he's won so much its hard to argue with the method, too much), and finally beating the Spurs in the post season doesn't determine Steve Nash's leadership ability.
Also, I know Durant has the height of a PF but as far as I know he rarely gets played at that position, so I don't get why he'd make it on that list.
Finally, this season Doc Rivers will be running the Defense of his Celtics for the first time since KG and Allen arrived. Up until now he has had T. Thibodeau playing the role of Defensive Coordinator, which is practically unheard of anywhere else in the NBA. So until the end of this season we have no idea if Doc has good "defensive schemes" and the first place spot on this list should go to either Thibodeau or Poppovich (probably Pop since the Celtics have been crediting their schemes to the Spurs system for the past few years anyway).
I don't form my own opinions lol?
Should I take that to mean that my opinions are not Spurs-centric and therefore they aren't real?
For the record I'd prefer if the morons of the board not respond to my posts. Just read my posts if you must but please cease to submit a reply as you waste everyone's time with your nonsense. Thank you in advance.
You have to understand that the GMs voting here are not wearing the same Tim Duncan underoos that you wear every night before bed.
Produce your evidence that the Celtics have credited their defensive schemes to the Spurs system (which incidentally is a Larry Brown derived scheme schmuck). I'd hate to believe you made a baseless claim on the internet.
::::UPDATE::::
In a survey of NBA general manager, the Los Angeles Lakers were picked to repeat as Finals champs and Thunder wing Kevin Durant will win the league's MVP, according to NBA.com.
The Lakers earned 63.0 percent of the votes when asked which team will win the 2011 NBA Finals. The Heat finished second with 33.3 percent while the Celtics finished third with 3.7 percent.
Miami was the heavy favorite in the East with 70.4 percent of the vote while the Lakers were an overwhelming favorite with 96.4 percent of the vote when asked which team would win the Western Conference.
Durant was picked by 66.7 percent of NBA GMs as the likely 2011 NBA MVP. In addition, 55.6 percent of respondents said if they were starting a franchise today, they would start with Durant. LeBron James was selected by 25.9 percent of GMs.
2010 No. 1 pick John Wall was selected by 67.9 percent of GMs as the player most likely to win the Rookie of the Year. Blake Griffin finished second with 28.6 percent of the vote.
lol I like how you ignore the fact that I agree with the assessment of Kobe's physical toughness, and that I also say Kobe should be on top of the leadership list, all I really said was that Derek Fisher should not be put on the same level as Duncan.
So is the guy giving his opinions wasting time, or is the guy who is simply posting what other people have said, and then nitpicking posts the waste of time?
Oh, and I will see if I can find the Celtics crediting the Spurs, of course I got that info from watching the Finals in 2008, which I'm assuming you either missed or blocked out of memory since the Lakers lost.
B/c that's what fair and reasonable people like yourself do, right?
I don't care what a moron thinks, sorry.
that just means you know you're losing, and you have been since you started trying to start in this forum.
I bet you're praying I don't find those quotes. BTW if anybody can help me out I'd appreciate it. (the article master 228 perhaps?)
Losing what? A battle to a delusional Spurs worshiping fan boy who makes up his own reality predicated around protecting his beloved team? Please.
There are very few people worth having a discussion with on this board and you aren't one of them.
Anyone can make things up and post it on the internet and when they get called out for it, ask other people to help them find evidence. It's called being a tool.
Then why don't you get the outThere are very few people worth having a discussion with on this board and you aren't one of them.
Oh, and if its not posted on the internet, doesn't mean that it wasn't said.
No thanks.
I'm here to talk to Spurs fans who actually know the game of basketball.
But there aren't any! We're ALL MORONS!
Ever occur to you that those people would like to do the same?
Step yo game up, pumpkin!![]()
As Duncan ages, there are still 6 of 28 GMs who think he's the best PF in the game -- 8 think Gasol is and another 8 think it's Nowitzki -- and another 1 of 27 GMs who think he's the best Center in the game. So, at least 7 general managers in the league think Tim is the best player at his position, even if they can't agree about what position he plays.
Kobe received the 3rd most votes for best leader? A good leader can lead when his team isn't performing well...all Kobe does in those situations is request a trade.
The GM's are just like the media, which is to say, a bunch of Bryant ass kissers. How could he receive any votes for most athletic at this point? And how could he be ranked as the top perimeter defender?
The Mavs unprecedented run of being vastly overrated and garnering far too much respect for accomplishing far too little continues...
I disagree with Gasol ahead of Duncan, though I get the argument, but Nowitzki? He's a one dimensional player.
71% have them winning the Southwest? Not to say they couldn't, but 71%? Ridiculous.
On Project Spurs I saw a video with Artest, who picked the Mavs as the Lakers toughest test in the West. The Spurs beat them last season without home court and based on the off season, they didn't get any better than the Spurs, so how could they be considered their toughest test? It's illogical thinking.
Which team has the best home-court advantage?
1. Utah 46.4%
2. L.A. Lakers 21.4%
3. Oklahoma City 7.1%
Also receiving votes: Boston, Dallas, Denver, Golden State, Miami, Portland, San Antonio
- Last year: Cleveland 37.9%
To pile onto an already beaten topic, but I find this humourus...
How is jerry sloan better then popovich? 0 - 4 rings
Must be nice to be seen as an expert even though you are a GM in many cases leading organizations that are chronically unachieving.
Who cares what Artest has to say the guy is awol plus he has strong hatred for the spurs He tends to diss Ginobilli at every opportunity he gets. This week he ed about how international players such as Ginobilli quote on quote get to play in the NBA while american players don't get to come in large numbers to Europe. I'm still convinced that this guy is going to have a blow up in the next 5 years when the Laker stop winning just like what happened with Randy Moss except 10x worse.
WTF?? As far as the "Toughest Player in the NBA" question goes, that should be more like least favored player to have to face in a street fight..Dwight Howard? What warrants this guy? If im wrong please enlighten me, but jesus, Manu killed a ing FLYING bat with his bare hand, not to mention got his god damn nose BROKEN during a game and didn't miss any time during that game or any others.
