We are in win now mode. Not we might win later mode because we have younger players. We the Lakers. That means we will always have at least one star. Look at the history: Mikan, Cap, Magic, Worthy, Shaq, Kobe, Gasol. Another star will be donning the P&G after Kobe retires. MK just has to maximize our 3-4 year championship window we have right now.

Lakers can make this trade anytime they wants so they will just keep the seasoned vets as long as they still play fine. once they start to play bad they will be traded instantly, and that will be another gasol-type of trade. lakers will always stay where they are as long as Stern is in charge.
Bright future with those kids ...but you win les with seasoned vets ...and much like Portland learned ... young talent doest not garuntee future success ...
