    ...couldn't stoop any lower:

    Sanders Fundraises Off Arizona Murders

Given the recent tragedy in Arizona, as well as the start of the new Congress, I wanted to take this opportunity to share a few words with political friends in Vermont and throughout the country. I also want to thank the very many supporters who have begun contributing online to my 2012 reelection campaign at www.bernie.org. There is no question but that the Republican Party, big money corporate interests and right-wing organizations will vigorously oppose me. Your financial support now and in the future is much appreciated.

Sanders identifies as a Socialist, not a Democrat. Next time try to get it right before you smear an entire political party while feigning disgust.

btw, i do think it's a move for him to ask for money like that, but i'm not holding it against all socialists...it's more symptomatic of politics in general than any one particular party's philosophy.

With whom does he caucus? In what primary does he run?

How many rounds should the feds allow us law abiding citizens to have in a magazine, based on the action of a lunatic?

You should have gone with the second part of that article, where he soundsmlike a y crybaby, rather than the overreaching and false interpretation of the first part that you wnt with.

As many as we want...they should concentrate on controlling the lunatic. Sheriff Gupnick, it appears, had all the information he needed to have taken some type of enforcement action long before this tragedy.

Interesting video from MSNBC interviewing a guy that was legally carrying that day. What I find interesting is the expression of restraint in the face of such carnage. He assessed the situation and determined he did not need to draw or fire his weapon. Kind of a far cry from the wild west images the left attempt to conjure up whenever carry and conceal carry laws are discussed.

I really think we have exhausted the idioted rhetoric debate. I want to talk about the heroes and those who lives were devastated by this idiot. For instance, I had not heard, until today, that the nine-year old girl had been born on September 11, 2001.

9-year-old Tucson Victim Was Daughter of Dodgers Scout and 9/11 Baby

She had just been elected to her school's student council. A neighbor was aware of that and invited her to join his family at the "Congress on the Corner" event.

    So sad.

    That's incredible.

Sadly, I feel just awful for the neighbor that took the little girl that was killed to the event. Iirc, she survived and I can't imagine the guilt and horror she must have experienced when she realized what happened. One of the talking points for the team of doctors working on the victims is that in addition to physical trauma, there's a lot of mental trauma as well. One asshole affected so many people and their families, and not just on that day but in the future too. That little girl could have grown up to do amazing things.

I own a Glock 19, and would be 10000000000000000% cool if 33 rd. glock mags were outlawed for citizens. But like I said, it takes 2 seconds to switch out 10/15 round magazine.

And I doubt a 1000 ft. gun ban within the vicinity of a political figure would be respected by an insane shooter possessing the intent to murder.

Hey Yoni Dude, here's Your People grovelling for funds, just when we knew they could always go lower and lower:

Tea Party Group Uses Tucson Shootings to Fundraise

The Tea Party Express sent an email to supporters this morning asking for money to fight against alleged liberal attacks in the wake of the shooting.

Or, you could say it was a peer of Congresswoman Giffords' with absolutely no involvement in the events of last Saturday compared with a political group that has been mercilessly libeled for 4 straight days.

You're right, not an equivalent at all.

But, I still think neither of them should have mentioned the massacre in the context of a fundraiser. It's in poor taste.

    True.

That's the problem with gun laws. The law abiding citizens follow the laws, and then those who don't follow the laws have nobody to worry about, shooting back!

I understand guns used as personal defense, but I've never been sold that they work as a deterrent. Case in point, do you think this wacko cared if there was anybody else armed there? I'm pretty sure he was aware there would be some sort of security at the event.

"sold that they work as a deterrent"

    capital punishment deters nobody.

"studies have shown" that there is no clear causality with gun ownership and crime reduction.

eg, AZ is armed to the teeth, but has the highest per capital murder rate in the USA.

Please. Laws are there for people who abide by laws. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't have them. Laws aren't there just to deter people they are also for people to face the consequences should they be broken.

Was there security? I haven't heard.

The only other person with a gun, of which I'm aware, is the shopper who emerged from the Safeway after all the shooting had ended and they were struggling with him on the ground.

On of the criticisms of both Sheriff Dupnick and the Congresswoman's staff is that, knowing Loughner's troubles, neither of them took the appropriate measures to safeguard the Congresswoman and those assembled at the Safeway that day.
