The finger roll is a lost art.
Pretty cool tribute video I just found on youtube.
The finger roll is a lost art.
Amazing that we "Gasoled" the VA Squires out of his services. Thanks, unknown Squires owners for being financially screwed, and need to borrow money from Drossos. Ice was pretty much wasted there, though, playing behind Dr. J.
You ing s did a piss poor job of elevating Ice to legendary status. off, fat asses!!!
And wow, I never actually knew how the Spurs got Gervin
Actually, the Nets bilked Earl Foreman (Squires owner) out of Erving in the offseason before they dumped Gervin. And the Spurs had already gotten Swen Nater from them earlier in the year for cash+picks.
And unlike the Memphis deal, Foreman knew he was getting screwed.
.
Nice tribute, however I don't think I've ever seen a compilation that did ICE justice.
He was one of a kind. His shooting style, the way he moved on the court... The guy never seemed to be exerting energy. It was effortless.
George Gervin was to the basketball court like Michael Jackson was to the dance floor. It was pure entertainment to watch him play. He never played defense very well but no one cared. You payed to see him play on offense and he delivered.
He hardly ever dunked but he didn't have to. There was no power to his game, just smooth, silky shooting.
so thats where they got the character "coffee black" in the movie "semi-pro"
I was one of the original season ticket holders. The best and most important reason I and many of my friends maintained our season tickets and made San Antonio a basketball town was that we knew that Gervin would make at least one shot every game that alone was worth the price of the ticket.
very nice vid ! I agree with Libri finger roll art has been lost
