Doubt it happens next time we face them.
What exactly happened there?..
It's no secret that the Spurs struggle against perimeter-oriented bigs, especially a star like Aldridge, but where were the adjustments?..IIRC, the Blazers offense struggled once the Spurs took the ball out of Aldridge's hands, which was the only time that the Spurs demonstrated a decent strategy against him..
Continuously switching the p&r against him was silly..the Blazers were lobbing it to him for easy looks, he got whatever he wanted..
The Blazers were running simple and predictable offense for Aldridge, yet it kept working, and there weren't any adjustments, for the most part..
When they weren't switching, they weren't sending any help on the p&r..it's understandable against certain teams, but a team like Portland doesn't really have many weapons, and they're one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in the NBA..
Puzzling..
Doubt it happens next time we face them.
He played well, Spurs gave no effort and Pop gave them momentum by going small.
Switching the p&r was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen Pop do.
I started watching late
Did we switch on every LaMarcus pick and roll all ing game? Is this why Hill was guarding Aldridge for most of the last possessions?
everything was going fine intill the refs screwed everything....yeah aldridge was makling his shots but the refs were burning holes through the spurs jerseys
Still waiting for the "burn the tape" comments![]()
Watching George Hill guard Aldridge in the paint was comical.
BTW, I dislike Aldridge a lot, but he definitely deserves to be an All-Star over Kevin Love..
pic and roll and late switch on him
he scored most of his baskets on hill and stupid alleys...fck that
are the spurs going to trade for a real shotblocker down low who can jump
LaMarcus has reached a new level. Instead of stat padding he actually has proven himself to be a capable go-to option for a team.
I still don't think he should EVER score 40 on us....Hill guarding him in crunch time?

I called LA's 40 on like pg 1.
Web they did force it out in the fourth guys like miller and Matthews bagged shots.
Ya, they did a lot of forcing on those 30 LA alley oops.
spurs havent been able to guard guys like Aldridge or Amare since 2005
Yeah he scored 60 you sarcastic .
Pop hoped he would cool off eventually, but he never did. Hence he didnt have a back up plan and lost.
He even shook his hand after the game.
I was also surprised that Pop allowed the Andre Miller-Parker mismatch to go on for as long as it did. Miller scored at least a couple easy baskets on that mismatch. Tony didn't have a chance from the start. He's always been poor at defending against larger guards in the post just inherently and due to his obvious physical limitations (height, weight, etc.).
u mad? He did score 40 with all that forcing.
Hi Kettle, meet Pot.
Nobody made him play any D! The er had 1 foul the whole game, 1.You make a scorer play some d and he gets in foul trouble. Everybody fouls. Shooting jumpers wont get you to the line. It's the same for A'mare and Dirk, go at them hard the first 5 plays in a row they get into foul trouble and a little tighter on d when the player is on O gives him more pressure and as we all know pressure busts pipes!
Yup, I agree, I said it during the game thread, Duncan should have been given the ball a lot more, especially when Aldridge was guarding him in the 4th..Tim's offensive game was on tonight, yet they didn't go to him enough, which happens more often than not these days..
Pops "strategy" against Aldridge was a ing joke. It was the same pick and roll over and over and over again, and yet the Spurs kept playing it extremely bad.The great display of jumpshot bricks by the Spurs in the 4th is what also cost them this game....
