I should point out I'm not happy about Billups leaving.
Yeah, I'm good with that.
Wouldn't mind holding onto Felton and Chandler, but hope we're moving Gallinari quick smart.
I should point out I'm not happy about Billups leaving.
lol yeah you sound really convinced
have you read my comments this season? i've been calling for melo to go ever since he started the season looking like a spoilt child.
Honestly, I think that this was a steal for the nuggs.
+1 They weren't going to get anything close to that from anyone else.
The trade won't help this season. I'll agree with that.
Once they start wooing free agents in 2011 and 2012? Different story.
Well it was a deal for a super-star but will he bring them les?
No.. There are only so many Tim Duncan's, Kobe Bryants and Shaq's..
So what? They certainly weren't going to win a le without that trade. At least now they will consistently make it to the second round of the playoffs. This will also up interest in the Knicks locally and cement their status as the alpha dog over the Nets.
they didnt get landry fields. probably makes sense cause they have his clone afflalo
Suns, Cavs, and Raptors got jack . Nuggets raped the Knicks.
Melo is not that good seriously. Only thing he can do is score, rich man SF version of Kevin Martin with marginally better defense.
Welcome back.
I didn't know you were still in the league.
Don't really have the pulse on the Nuggets. Was Billups happy about leaving either? I thought he was pretty happy to be in Denver.
Being a hometown hero is nice, but I guess NY is a nice consolation prize.
Terrific trade for the Nuggets, Knicks continue to go into rebuild mode. Only way this pans out for the Knicks is if they end up landing Chris Paul or Deron Williams, both wanting to play for the Knicks.
Although with the Knicks now having two superstars and being in New York it's looking like the place to be for players and I'm sure a lot of players will show interest in joining the Knicks soon.
Also, none of the Knicks players wanted to be traded and stated publicly that they want to stay in New York, the rumors have effected certain players game play so we'll see how effected the they will be come game time for the Nuggets.
i was hoping that NY would buy him out and he'd pull a big z and come back to denver, but word is he'll play out his contract in NYC because he likes d'antoni. pretty sure he was going to ask for a buyout if it was the nets. i know he'd rather stay in denver if he had the choice, but, unlike melo, chauncey is a gentleman and a professional and he didn't have a cry, he just put his head down and did the work. that's why he's a finals mvp, and why melo will only be remembered as a guy who could shoot and not do much else.
i hope melo is ing appreciative of chauncey having to do this, but i'm sure he doesn't care about that. i at least hope the nuggets have promised chauncey a front office job when he does retire so he can come back home.
i like chandler, and i like felton. couldn't care less about gallinari, and mozgov is a joke, right? just means he'll get raped by blake two more times this year.
i like the prospect of a nice small ball lineup of birdman/chandler/afflalo/felton/lawson running and gunning.
Glad Felton got traded, this dude thinks hes the next Jordan or something. In an interview question I can't when with who or when, basically he was asked something along the lines of who the Knicks closer is and he said that he feels he should be the one taking big shots over anyone on the team. I honestly believe that he thought he was the franchise player of the Knicks.
Anyway, glad he's gone.
Holy . I thought DMX and DMC were the same person. I would always say in my head "I don't remember DMC being such a ty poster". Just got the two of you confused.
Gallinari is definitely improving he's already a top young role player at this point. Can shoot, but can also drive to the rim if closed off. His defense is in question though.
As for Mozgov he has tremendous potential. Dropped 23 points and 14 boards, albeit against the Pistons, but he's definitely going to see playing time and rightfully so.
I don't see how it's a great idea to have two volume shooters playing no defense in the same team.
As bill simmons pointed out, the Nuggets got under the luxury tax and got one HUGE TPE
All i can say is well played FO. The Knicks got their Man, melo got his money, but the Nuggets will have the last laugh
Melo is going to fall off the wagon in NY and be hungover or high 99% of the time.
To counter that theory I will say that Melo will reinvigorate his career under the lime light and playing for the team that he actually wants to play for.
As for the players going to the Nuggets they're going to be miserable, going from rags to riches - effectively affecting their game play.
Spoiled child? He let the franchise know from the beginning that he wasn't coming back, giving them the opportunity to make plans for the future without him. He never owed it to Denver to re-sign. Because he was straight-up with the team, the Nuggets weren't hung out to dry and got a pretty nice consolation prize in Felton/Gallinari/Chandler.
Can you please direct me to a news story where he made it clear he wasn't coming back? Because I've been looking for that for the last 6 months and I never did find it.
