Would def. suck if he retired due to a lockout.
J Kidd isn't asked to do too much with this Mavs team, except hitting an occasional 3 ball. He racks up 10 assists rather easily, still has plenty left.
LINKThe NBA's collective bargaining agreement expires June 30, and the possibility exists that the owners of pro basketball teams could lock out their players, much like the NFL owners have done in their league. If an NBA lockout forces the cancellation of the 2011-12 season, the Mavericks' Jason Kidd, considered one of the greatest point guards in league history, would consider retirement.
"I'm just concentrating on this season," Kidd said after his Mavericks lost the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night, 97-91. "I take it one game at a time. When that time comes I will address that situation, but if there was a lockout and if there was no season, I probably would walk away because at 39, 40 years old, that is just too much for me to train and get back in shape."
Kidd, who turns 38 on Wednesday, is one of the league's oldest players but has been performing well this season. He's ninth in the league in assists at 8.4 per game, slightly below his career average of 9.2. Kidd also is shooting 35.7 percent from 3-point range, about his career average.
Now in his 17th NBA season, Kidd says he still feels strong.
"I feel great physically, and mentally I feel good," he said. "We have a deep team so that helps, and I don't carry the load so I just try to get my guys going and get them the ball and try to help them out on defense."
It seems just like yesterday when Kidd played for Cal University and almost upset a heavily favored Duke team in the NCAA tourney. I think he has some left in the tank and would be disappointed if he retired due to a looming lockout.

2nd round of playoffs sounds like the end/...
