Being without an elected govt (the civil service continues, obviously) is very different from shutting down the federal civil service.

I'm pretty sure Barry and Dems will come out of a shutdown much better than the Hate/Destroy-Govt Repugs, just like 1995.

I love working without being paid! Hurray!

On a more serious note, some young soldiers are really going to be screwed if we don't get a paycheck on the 15th.

Nobody should be paid for being suckered into doing the globalists dirty work imo
Yup, the military doesn't do anything useful or helpful around the world.

For instance, I know Japan sure turned down our help trying to cool down the reactor.

"the military doesn't do anything useful or helpful around the world"

The military does what the MIC pays the politicians to order the military around:

Unending, murderous disasters for the military, for the countries the military invades and occupies, and for Human-Americans.

I'm not a big fan of many of our foreign adventures. That said, trying to imply that the military is useless is short-sighted at best.

They've been Mic e's trophy for some time. I don't think she plans or returning them.

Love that show. Thinking of starting to watch it from season 1 again. I have all seven seasons on DVD's.

Too bad it doesn't portray democrats and republicans like they really are though.

I never watched lost. Saw part of one episode one time channel surfing, what i saw looked strange and not my style for personalities in a program.

Now that I have NetFlix of demand, maybe I'll humor the first episode.

You have to watch Lost from Season 1 Ep 1. Period. There is no other way. Just watching season 1 is worth it (srs). After that it falls from EPIC status.

It's funny how Dems are making a big deal out of this. As if pain can be taken completely out of the equation when you have had pleasure from the system for so long. Your politicians will still have the power and the money. They really don't care if soldiers' paychecks will be held for a couple months. Look on the bright side military, social security checks will continue to flow. However, if you filed your taxes through USPS, the return may take longer than usual.

My old man heard a rumor that military will receive half-pay until the shutdown ends. That hasn't been confirmed, but keep your fingers crossed; half would be much better than nothing.

It is not only the military that are critical to the nation's security. Civil Service personnel in all the alphabet-soup agencies (FBI, CIA, NSA, etc.) will not even be paid half-wages, even if they are considered 'essential' personnel and thus have to keep working just without getting paid. Isn't that called slavery?

Patriots these workers are...but how much do you expect them to take? Why wouldn't they take their skills and education and go to the private sector where, if they get laid off, at least they don't have to keep working for no money?!

    Huh?

The USPS supports their own fiances with stamps. The shutdown will not affect the USPS what so ever. It is not part of the federal budget.
