Is way too long. And too many teams make the playoffs. The NBA clearly has some money difficulties, their product is becoming very ho-hum until the playoffs get underway and the chaff is eliminated.

    So I propose:

    1. The team with the best record in each conference wins the right to pick the exact matchups during the 1st round of the playoffs. David Stern could have a tournament show before the playoffs detailing exactly what the teams with the best records have decided. And then everyone could whine and cry about.

Or we could all just wait for Lebron's mom to get drunk again and have us some U-tube.

This would really be interesting imo (along with a hammered mom on a rampage). The best team could hack off the team they choose to play. And they could pick the worst possible matchups for the teams they might consider threats and did not play as well during the regular season. Make the regular season mean something please.

Im fed up with 82 games.

    And I dont have a 2nd point.

The difference in quality of play is distinct, especially at the start of the playoffs because the regular season is still fresh in one's mind. By the time The Finals have culminated one's mind is preset to that quality because it's pleasant and stimulating. When November quickly rolls about and we're presented with that product it's near disgraceful.

I've not a solution, just a refresh of the particulars.

Should the number one team be given another distinct advantage like that when it's already number one and probably the favorite to win it all? As I see it, that would make the playoffs more boring because the number one team would set itself such a clear path to victory playing inferior teams.

I think the idea could possibly work if it were implemented slightly differently; if the top 3 teams within the conference, starting at number one, get to pick their matchup from the bottom 4 (obviously, the number 4 team would be forced to play whoever was left over from the choices of the top 3).

That way it gives a slight advantage to the top teams but does not bias the entire tournament in favor of the number one seed.

    Awwhh cmon Man!

Im bored. 82 frggn games. Make it worth something if we are going to have to go through so many games. Maybe its good to get a big advantage. The regular season is a strut for the best teams, make em play. Or get rid of some teams and make it the best 4 records in each conf.

Throw me a bone here fella, Im dyin.

I like it the way it is. I think it is cool that there are "alot" of playoff teams.

I want Stern to not with the game any more. He tried a couple of things like the stupid ball change and this year the technical fiasco. Just leave the damn game alone.

That's exactly what the NBA has done with the D-League playoffs for the last two seasons.

The offseason is too long... Just stretch the regular season until July... August off, September training camp, and off we go again... You could avoid back to backs that way, among other things...

Stretch it out long enough and avoid those pesky FIBA tournaments...

Works for me... plus I bet you'll get less injured guys and more time for injured guys to recover without their team having to tank the season...

And this is why the NBA is the 3rd most popular sport in the US and dropping. Soon to be passed by NASCAR. Pun intended.

Just trying to interject some fun and it aint workin.

Last thing the NBA needs right now is to overlap with baseball and football. Taint workn fellas. Baseball and football owners are makn cash.

For most euros, American football and Baseball are mysteries...

American football is more or less a (very) poor man version of rugby
As for Baseball... argh it's like watching an Inspector Derrick episod

BB has it all and should be the most popular sport in the US

Which is what Cricket is for Americans. A mysterious snoozefest.

Baseball roots are very, very deep here. The NY Yankees have the largest payroll in the Sportsworld. Yes, ahead of Barca, and Manchester City. In fact, it might be possible the NY Yankees are the most recognized professional team in the entire world. The Far East and Central America are also baseball crazy.

I'll take my 82 plus games, thank you very much. But I would like to see the best 16 teams in the playoffs based on record. Which means a few teams from the East that would normally be playing would be watching from home (or wherever they choose to spend their vacation).
