3 times. he should be suspended for a year
The case to suspend Bynum for at least 5 games.
I think because he showed NO REMORSE. He'll get 10 games at the start.
Case and Point:
1/27/09 Bynum hits a defenseless Gerald Wallace with a right elbow to the chest. This is nowhere close to being a basketball play. Wallace is knocked to the floor and sustained broken ribs and a collapsed lung.

3-18-2011 Bynum hit's Michael Beasley with another right elbow on a drive to the basket knocking him to the floor. He make no attempt on the ball and Beasley takes a scary fall.
5-8-2011 Bynum hits JJ Barea with yet another right elbow in an absolute "Bush League" play.
How many games do you guys think Mr. Glass is going to miss next season?

20 Games + 100K slapped by the NBA

He will get a slap on the and a small fine, just like the thug Artest did after going into the stands and beating on helpless fans. If Stern had any balls the suspension would be served in playoff games, not the beginning of the regular season.
He should get what that horse-faced figure skater got back in the day.
He doesn't jump in two of those assaults, as would do someone who tries to hit as hard as possible, by having firm support on the ground.
Oxford's calling, we got ourselves a new addition to the lexicon:
"Guys, let's keep our composure, don't go Bynum out there."
"The suspect went Bynum and was put immediately put into custody."
Should be ten games, at a minimum, due to the history, the fact that it wasn't close to on-ball, the game was out of line, etc etc. All those factors add up.
I agree - it'll be 10 or 15 games.
These days, the announcers have a lot to do with what the league does. Obviously Tirico went off, and Hubie agreed 100%. The entire national television audience heard their reaction, as has the Sportscenter audience another 100 times. That alone probably means 10 games. But because it was a sour grapes thing, it could be 15 or even 20 games.
After Game 2, Barkley, Kenny, and several other commentators said that Artest would be suspended for Game 3. Well, he might have been suspended anyway, but there was no way he wasn't going to be suspended after all those "experts" said that he would.
All that said, Barea could have been seriously injured, so thankfully that didn't happen. But that type of play needs to be seriously deterred.
bynum should have taken out barea when he was raping the lakers, not after he finished. lol what a dumb thing to do.
Artest got suspended for 72 games for that incident.
10 games O/U. I would say 5 pre-season games since he is a Laker.
I'd say 15 and if he does the same again he will be banned for a year.
but it will be 2 games
The last time this smoker did this he was praised by a known rapist ("he earned his stripes") ...
So why wouldn't this idiot continue to do this?
The NBA should suspend him without pay for a whole season ...then see if this piece of does it again afterwards.
Sit him for 20-25 games. Send him a message that it's unacceptable now or in the future.
Last time this happened, the player (who's a lot bigger than Barea) had a collapsed lung.
This shows that Bynum didn't care, and will continue to take smaller players out for no rhyme or reason other than he's an immature idiot who has to take someone out when he's upset. What if they suspend him for 5 games, and the first game back when the Lakers are getting beat by 20, he does this again and takes someone out for an entire season, or worse?
Send a message, NBA. It's not like the Lakers are going to miss the playoffs if Bynum sits for 20 games. But it'll definitely affect his pocketbook and his ability to be on the court.
You're an idiot for saying he should do it at all, and then you compound your idiocy for saying he should do it when the series is still viable, and then get suspended during the playoffs.
It doesn't matter either way. It's the regular season. The whole team could be suspended for the regular season and still ring. That's how good they are.
Let someone send him a message the right way, by taking out his knee.
You thought the Mavs whippin' 'em would be enough.
Uh, uh.
tee, hee.
Because of the history, I don't think the suspension will be light. Probably 15 games. I'm not sure how he could explain his intent in any of those three instances, except that it was to break their ribs. (Mission accomplished with Wallace, obviously).
It happens, Luva. Real life isn't like Naruto.
Artest was suspended for the rest of the season. He ended up missing 73 games in the regular season and 13 in the playoffs...costing him just about $7million.
Sure as sounds like a "slap on the and a small fine" to me.![]()
1) Bynum is an asshat and frankly, whatever they hit him with probably won't be enough. 10-15 games sounds about right though. If they didn't ban Artest for beating the face of a fan, they aren't going to ban Bynum for a hard foul, as cheap and utterly unnecessary as it was.
2) The use and overuse of erotic/ phobic language in this forum is really making me start to wonder about some of you's.
If it's a regular season suspension, they should suspend him for the final 10 games of the year, not the first 10 games. That makes it more difficult to adjust to him back in the lineup come playoff time. Hurts the team more and is more of a punishment, IMO.
Honestly, maybe all suspensions should happen this way. Might reduce cheap shots and techs, because no one wants to be out of rhythm come playoff time when you're players are suspended, can't practice, and can't finish the season on a good note.
