According to La Reppublica, the Spurs board is trying to sign Ettore Messina as their new assistant coach.
For the record, the guy has a pretty solid background and is considered one of the best coach in Europe:
- 4 Euroleagues
- Named Euroleague coach of the year in 06 and 08
- Named as one of the 50 greatest contributors in the Euroleague
- Numerous domestic league les
- Silver medal with Italy at the 97 European Championship

good move if its not a rumor......also i would like the spurs to sign mike brown as another assistant.....he knows some pretty good defensive schemes

The thing that I'm concerned about with this guy is whether or not he plays stretch 4's, does anyone know whether or not he had them on any of his teams he coached and whether they got significant playing time?
He was the coach of Ginobili's team in italy, Manu, Jaric, Rigadeu, Smodis, a quite impressive team for Europe. And yes, he's use to play with a stretch 4, he likes PF with a goos perimetral shot

Qualifications:
Must be, or be able to become;
Butt kisser of Lil tator
Fall in love or at the very lest go against every fiber in your sane basketball intelligence body and condone overuse of soft red haired PF. Along with benching of far more deserving players.
Embrace losing playoff basketball.
Condone gross overpaying of other soft SF/PFs.
Do not complain to media or anyone else. If done, face immediate expulsion.
In short, Yes man to 100th degree.
