Hey guys, I'm looking for some basketball writers for this site. There's not too much basketball content on it at the moment so I'm doing the rounds trying to find people keen to take some time to write about the playoffs and anything else NBA-related.

The easiest way to describe the site is similar to Bleacher Report...but with less horrible writers and opinions . There can also be money involved if your article gets enough views, the top 3 view getters for the month get cash as well as an editors pick for the month.

So if you're keen, either shoot me a PM or go ahead and sign up. You basically have complete freedom to write about whatever you want, if you're keen.

PS. Got the ok from Kori to post this here, so it's not like I'm getting in the way of the Dispatch, potentially taking away writers or anything like that.

looking for a writer in these neck of the woods is tantamount to looking for a PGA prospect at a putt putt course.

The Sequspur Chronicles - Part I

Sequspur stared down into the cracked yellowing sink. At least it was supposed to be a sink. Lately, it had been also serving duty as a makeshift toilet as the actual one had somehow been smashed to pieces and rendered useless. Now after five days, it had completely stopped draining and the growing pool of vomit, urine, and feces was starting to fill up the basin. “Gonna have to get on that tomorrow.”, Sequspur mentally took note in a notebook that most likely would never be opened to that page again. Were the toilet able to speak, it could attest to as much.

I'd do it but I'd need to learn all of the cool Aussie slang first like "keen" (I gather from your post) and "aye" and "g'day mate".

Those are the only Aussie slang words I know and I doubt that's enough.

If you let me write I can make it more like Bleacher Report. I'm chalk full of completely unresearched and poorly thought out article ideas.

    p.m. me for the goods.

I'm at San Antonio native current Senior English major @ UT here in Austin. I love writing and love basketball even more, I don't have much experience save for my high school newspaper but I got the goods. Check out some of my posts, needless to say if I was actually writing for a site I'd craft my with much more care.

I would like to submit an idea for a column that I'm willing to write for your website.

I would like to write a weekly feature about a fictional professional baskeball player in the United States. But I will be writing from the point of view of an Asian that only knows limited English and also writes like he would speak. Each week, he would talk about a different fictional professional basketball player. The players would each have some kind of disability that they had to overcome in order to make it to the pro level.

I believe that the column could provide important insight into the way that someone not born in the U.S. might think about a pro athlete who had to overcome adversity to succeed.

Overtime, as I develop and understand the narrarator, I would try to find some catch phrase that he could say often, if not every week. Something like, Wachu talkin' bout Willis?, or, Nanu Nanu.

    Ok, let me know.

There's already enough of that with the guys down here that write about the AFL, cricket & co. That's the reason I've come here so that there's a section of the site that gets away from that...

Unless you want a crash course?

I'd be willing to write something. By this summer or fall, I'll have a B.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing from UC-Berkeley and I'll be going to get a second bachelor's in TV/Film from USC next year.

I have extensive experience in Journalism and have published articles in the Daily Trojan (USC), Coast Magazine, Caliber Magazine (in Berkeley), as well as my own literary/art magazine, Vulture Peak Magazine (http://vulturepeakmagazine.com)

I am also a regular and fervent blogger on multiple blogs/blogging groups across the interwebzz. Here's an example of Spurs-related blogging I've done on my own personal blog:

    http://hoppingintopuddles.wordpress....tegory/sports/

Please let me know if you'd be interested in letting me write!

Anyone else happen to be looking for an experienced freelance writer/editor, let me know as well!

    Thanks a lot.

    I completely second this post.

KBP "articles" will sure make it to the top 3 viewed.
Not necessarily in the basketball cathegory, though.

I used have a job at a publishing co. In New York. I would read manuscripts and give feedback. One thst sticks with me is one story about a person named Billy mumfrey. You see Rock, Billy was a simple country boy. You might say a eyed optimist, who got himself mixed up in the high stakes game of world diplomacy and international intrigue. This led to Billy Mumfrey's downfall.....

Billy to read the Koran to him while he milked his cows. It was an odd request to say the least but Billy couldn't resist the opportunity to be around farm animals. The john requested to be called "Deke" but Billy suspected that wasn't his real name. Deke was dark skinned and spoke with an affectation that suggested growing up in the Caribbean. Strange habits aside, Billy liked him instantly and hoped the working relationship could grow into something more. As they rode to Deke's place by Taxi, Billy began to reflect on the events leading to his uncle's death and quickly nodded off to sleep.

The smell of gunpowder was heavy in the air. Billy turned to see...
