4.5/10
With the retirement of squinty eyed Phil Jackson, Pop took his rightful position as the highest paid coach in the NBA. Not for long tho, as Boston at seasons end rewarded Doc Rivers one championship year with a new contract.
Result?
7 million for Doc Rivers
6 million for CIA Pop.
That is an outrage! Pop is the best coach the NBA has ever had. The man has won 7, count them seven playoff games in the past 3 years alone. How many of you have won 7 playoff games in 3 years? Didn't think so.
Since Peter Holt only has a small market with San Antonio being only the 2nd most populous city in Texas, passing Dallas, he is severely limited on his funds. What with the team being worth only 400+ million and Jefferson and Matty Bonner needing extensions, there just isn't enough money to go around.
Could a bake sale be set up to rightly get Greg Pop the $1 million plus needed to pass Doc Rivers? Could, will you help?
You might think i was joking PBEEZY, but i take my Spurs fanship very seriously. When I'm sitting at at&t drinking a 9 dollar beer, i want to know that my coach, our coach, is happy.
And excuuuse me but i think we want to continue to lure top free agents and trade possibilities to San Antone. 1st it was Michael Finley, then Richard Jefferson formed a bridge with Matty Bonner and Pop. I know Luke Walton might be only 31 but he also might want to join with and keep this ferocious SF/PF thing Pop has going. Would Luke still want to join and Matty if Pop was not the ringleader?
You may not have noticed but excuuse me Austin is now the 4th largest city in Texas (near 800K) and i think the Spurs want to keep fan loyalists like Chump Dumper and T_Park satisfied.
Will another playoff win in 2011 mean another 1 million raise, Fabbs?
I've never won 7 playoff games in 3 years. Wow.
Your nicknames are stupid.
I disagree. this is one of fabb's better efforts recently. 7/104.5/10
That's actually not that high of a bar. 4.5/10 is generous score for this excrescence.
Why does this have to turn into a who-has-the-highest-salary contest between coaches?
It reminds me of the back-and-forth duel between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, trying to offer contracts to make Brady and Manning the league's highest-paid player, respectively.
lol yea.. dont' you have an nba championship to watch?

But, only because Ian scored, tonight and we didn't end up with a playable defensive big.
Wake me when Pop's contract counts against the cap.
at the end of the day "what have you done for me lately?"
