Iowa Conservatives Unveil Anti-Gay Marriage Pledge

Presidential candidates who sign The Marriage Vow will sign off on support of personal fidelity to his/her spouse, appointing faithful cons utionalists as judges, opposition to any redefinition of marriage, and prompt reform of uneconomic and anti-marriage aspects of welfare policy, tax policy, and divorce law. The Marriage Vow also outlines support for the legal advocacy for the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), humane efforts to protect women and children, rejection of anti-women Sharia Islam, safeguards for all married and unmarried U.S. military personnel, and commitment to downsizing government and the burden upon American families.

So no candidate has signed, and there is nothing at the link that sustains the hate group designation in the headline. Do you have more information about this?

This is the same Pledge detailed by ThinkProgress as the "banning pornography" pledge. MotherJones seems to have gotten the point a little better.

So if they tried to stop blacks from marrying would you then consider them a hate group?

yes, any discrimination against is a form of hate.

extorting candidate to sign a pledge against child porn? isn't simple possession already an imprisonable offense?

I'll rephrase: are they an SPLC designated or otherwise generally recognized hate group?

Is marriage a basic human right? Serious question.

ha ha, I parsed it right, as did many others, except for the dumb mofo's here who whine about "context"

Following Controversy Over Pledge, Family Leader Clarifies Anti-Porn Statement

"ThinkProgress, ABC, the Washington Post, the New York Daily News, Slate, and numerous other news outlets read to call for a blanket ban on all pornography.

THE FAMiLY LEADER’s head Bob Vander Plaats has reacted to the growing controversy about his pledge by backing away from its plain meaning. Today, he claimed, “We are not calling for a nationwide band [sic] on pornography,” and that the pledge is really intended “to imply opposition to women being forced into pornography or pros ution.”

Although Mr. Vander Plaats’ interpretation of his pledge’s language is not consistent with the text as written

    =============

Just another lying hate group exposed in their hate and authoritarian desire to extort THEIR morality out of others. The language in their formal, carefully written "pledge" is easy to parse.

Yes. Do you not consider it as part of the right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

    the hate-riddled pledge includes:

“Slavery had a disastrous impact on African-American families, yet sadly a child born into slavery in 1860 was more likely to be raised by his mother and father in a two-parent household than was an African-American baby born after the election of the USA’s first African-American President.”

yes, Barry is "logically" implicated in the the disastrous state of black families these last 100 years or so.

... the kind of "logic" that a bubba slurps up like it was BBQ sauce on his obese wife's cottage cheese ass.

I think heterosexual couples are already doing an outstanding job in desecrating marital and family values. Not sure why they want exclusive rights to do that, tbh.

Not sure. Equality before the law is one thing; this is another.
