My last four played games are Black Ops, Super Meat Boy, Fifa 11 & NBA 2K11. So i'd say I have a varied playlist.
To me a gamer is someone who plays just about anything they can get their hands on.... Then there are subsets... Not true "Gamers"...
This isnt a labeling compe ion, nor am I trying to call anyone out... I'm just curious what the mindset of us Spurstalkers are when it comes to games.
Do you play anything and everything? FPS, RPG, Indie, Action Adventure, Puzzle, RTS, Turn based, PS3, XBOX, Nintendo, PC... ect. You get the idea.
Or are you strictly one Genre?
Like.... I know people who ONLY play FPS games and they call themselves Gamers..... They are not. They are FPSers.
There's nothing wrong with sticking to one genre, I've done it myself from time to time... Back in the 90's I was strictly FPS after the likes of Wolfenstein 3D and Doom came out.... Then I moved strictly to RPG's and wouldnt touch anything else.... These days, I find myself playing alot of Indie games, especially Minecraft, Mount and Blade (which could be considered a Mideaval FPS) and Terraria. But I also play alot of other diverse stuff like Battle Field, Dungeon Siege 3 (trying to get my fix waiting for Diablo 3) and various MMORPG's.
I've even find myself going back to obscure classics that I LOVED back in the day like Nox (a HIGHLY underratted game) and Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri (Someone REALLY needs to remake this game with todays tech, maybe a Mod in the Source engine or something).
So, after all that rambling, do you stick to one or two play styles/Sytems? Or are you a true Gamer?

Last four games were COD,hoard,mvc2,infamous 2 so yeah I'm pretty much gonna play anything that looks cool or seems fun. Can I play as often as I'd like?..well of course not. Between family, work, kids, going out who has time to play forever and live the guys dream. Sometimes I see some of you guys talk about the latest games and a few days another game comes out and see you talk about that one too. Talk on how it plays and what your likes and dislikes are. Can't help but get the mental picture of kid or bum at home all day in my head
Btw,There are plenty games that are classics that should be remade with todays tech. Make other thread please![]()
Only genre I don't really play is racing.
I have almost 50000 achievement points and that obviously takes a lot of gaming. That investment in time doesn't even reflect my true gaming love: Real time strategy games, which consoles have a lousy time making any good.
Games I'm playing atm... Shogun 2 total war, Borderlands, BFBC2, Oblivion, and Civilization 5.
I have a hard time getting into either RTS or RPGs, and always have. And I tend to stick to single player campaigns, rather than multiplayer. However I have enjoyed games in pretty much all other genres, and I definitely consider myself a gamer.
Not even necessarily based on how much I play, just because grad school and a social life have left me relatively little time for gaming over the last few years, but based on how much I pay attention to the video game world. I'm WAAAAY behind in what I need/want to play, but I stay up-to-date on what's in development, what's coming out, what's good or bad, and so forth.
Twitch multiplayer gamer here thats been buying and playing fewer games as time goes on. I haven't really played any turn based, roll the dice kind of game for years like traditional single player RPG's and MMO's.
FPS/RTS PC are my favs.
Hard to say. I've played every genre on most consoles/PC throughout my life.
I don't play games as much as I did before but my most recent games are CS, FIFA/PES 11, Street Fighter, Red Dead, and Gran Turismo 5.
The only game I play now really is CS.
I usually only play 1 game at a time obsessively until I'm tired of it. The only game I've played the last 2 weeks is NCAA Football 12, then it'll be like that with Madden, then Gears 3, and so on tbh.
Madden 11, NBA 2k11, NCAA 12 and New Vegas were the last 4 games I've played. Only 4 I've probably put in more than 10 hours worth of playing time, as well.
I wouldn't even consider myself a casual gamer at this point.
I don't play video games that much nowadays, but for the past couple months I've been playing NBA 2K11, MvC3, LA Noire, and COD: Black Ops.
If it is a game, be it video game, board game, card game, sport, I love playing it. I mean , I even have strategies for paper games like Dots and Tic Tac Toe.
That was me about 4 years ago. Then my wife started making all my decisions for me. LOL!!!
Some ppl are hardcore and only play 1 genre. Most ppl preffer 2 or 3 genres. Never seen someone who would play any genre equally.
I'll try anything if the game is quality but if it's not RPG, Strategy, Adventure I'll probably only play it only a few times.
Or badge of honor.
