Philadelphia mayor talks tough to black teenagers after ‘flash mobs’
ing racist!PHILADELPHIA — Mayor Michael A. Nutter, telling marauding black youths “you have damaged your own race,” imposed a tougher curfew Monday in response to the latest “flash mob” — spontaneous groups of teens who attack people at random on the streets of the city’s tourist and fashionable shopping districts.
“Take those God-darn hoodies down, especially in the summer,” Mr. Nutter, the city’s third black mayor, said in an angry lecture aimed at black teens. “Pull your pants up and buy a belt ‘cause no one wants to see your underwear or the crack of your butt.”
“If you walk into somebody’s office with your hair uncombed and a pick in the back, and your shoes untied, and your pants half down, tattoos up and down your arms and on your neck, and you wonder why somebody won’t hire you? They don’t hire you ‘cause you look like you’re crazy,” the mayor said. “You have damaged your own race.”
Oh, wait...
Mayor Nutter
Smart people won't hire them anyways
*Jumps on first opportunity to use a black man saying bad things about black people to subtly induce racist views*
Bill Cosby, Chris Rock, etc. You have to be black to say the black community has a problem.
It probably helps to know a black person.
Who are you talking to?
... and so the tide of emotionally charged, vacuous, conservative talking point threads begins.
To be fair to good Mayor Nutter, people that dress like that, do look like idiots; white, black, brown, green, purple, whatever.
That said, I wonder why you never hear about the things white kids wear that makes them look like idiots on Fox "news"? (or Yonivore threads for that matter)
I will assume the motivation is racism, until Yonivore can provide proof that he is not a racist.
See how that assuming things works? Ain't it fun?
white and brown kids, esp gangs, follow the black style-makers, which dumbed down with euphemistic "urban".
I know this may come as a shock to you, but what the mayor said is not contradictory in any way to believing there is a problem with systematic racism problem in this country. You can be fully behind this mans words (and others who have said the same thing) and believe there are societal problems that need to be addressed, as well.
Of course, instead of actually seeing the forest for the trees some of you would rather try to score some political points.
But that's not what he said.
This describes me the morning after a wild night at the gentlemens club tbh.“If you walk into somebody’s office with your hair uncombed and a pick in the back, and your shoes untied, and your pants half down, tattoos up and down your arms and on your neck, and you wonder why somebody won’t hire you? They don’t hire you ‘cause you look like you’re crazy,”
Not Mayor Nutter.
