Does Motorola own a stake in a lot of patents? I don't like this regarding the future of Android.
weird move by Google. what is up their sleve?
IMO this is mainly for patents.

build the OS, let other's create the groundwork and work the kinks out, take back what's yours and reap the benefits. sounds EPIC!
Motorola or RIM?
Motorola has a lot more to offer than RIM. Unless you just mean CEOs.
Can't imagine Samsung and HTC are very happy with this development at all.
yeah, i seriously doubt it.
FWIW, it's only the Mobility spinoff part of the company.
The main Motorola company is not for sale.
exactly
Whoops. Sorry. RIM is the company that developed Blackberry and not Motorola. Anyway, I did see stories, while I was verifying my misstatement, that said Microsoft will now probably go after Nokia or RIM now.
RIM can probably be had cheap but the problem with them is that they don't have any good hardware - IMO.
I like Blackberry's. I like practicality you know. No bells and whistles, just what I need for work.
Not so sure about that. Nokia might be cheaper to acquire, tbh.
Microsoft did enter into some agreement with Nokia, so I can see where they might buy them up.
The problem for RIM is that they seemingly have no plan going forward. And their tablet look to be a complete bust.
On the other hand, I can see Apple bidding to buy them up and gain corporate market share, where the iPhone still has problems making strides.
why buy nokia when they are losin the hand held smart phone market?
Patents, plus Microsoft isn't going away from the phone market.
nokia + ms are coming out with new windows phones later this year. It'll be interesting to see how they stack up vs. Apple/google best
Samsung CEO "we're cool with this"
let's see what you have to say when motorola gets the nexus this year
Did the nexus really do anything in the first place?
Also, I believe there was a news item that Nokia will no longer release smartphones in the states pretty soon.
LOL apple. them and their patent suits
i believe that was only concerning their non wp7 phones
