I hope that there is still some of those in todays music...but post songs and lyrics to ANY song...ANY era...ANY genre...

as long as the song is a political or a socially conscious song....

Here's a classic that just doesn't get played anymore...but the lyrics are relevant today..just like they were yesterday....

    Dialogue by Chicago

Terry: Are you optimistic 'bout the way that things are going?
Pete: No, I never ever think of it at all.
Terry: Don't you ever worry when you see what's going down?
Pete: Well, I try to mind my business, that is, no business at all.

Terry: When it's time to function as a feeling human being, will your Bachelor
of Arts help you get by?
Pete: I hope to study further, a few more years or so.
I also hope to keep a steady high.

Terry: Will you try to change things, use the power that you have,
The power of a million new ideas?
Pete: What is this power you speak of and the need for things to change?
I always thought that ev'rything was fine, ev'rything is fine.

Terry: Don't you feel repression just closing in around?
Pete: No, the campus here is very very free.
Terry: Does it make you angry the way war is dragging on?
Pete: Well I hope the President knows what he's into, I don't know.
    Oooh I just don't know.

Terry: Don't you see starvation in the city where you live,
all the needless hunger, all the needless pain?
Pete: I haven't been there lately, the country is so fine,
but my neighbors don't seem hungry 'cause they haven't got the time,
    Haven't got the time.

Terry: Thank you for the talk, you know you really eased my mind,
I was troubled by the shapes of things to come.
Pete: Well, if you had my outlook, your feelings would be numb,
You'd always think that ev'rything was fine.
    Ev'ry thing is fine.

We can make it better (x3) Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!
We can change the world now (x3)

We can save the children (x3)
We can make it happen (x3)

I got a ton and because I know how much you love Hip Hop they'e all going to be Hip Hop.

I really think the war on terror is a bunch of bull
Just a poor excuse for you to use up all your bullets
How much money does it take to really make a full clip
9/11 building 7 did they really pull it
Uhh, And a bunch of other cover ups
Your childs future was the first to go with budget cuts
If you think that hurts then, wait here comes the uppercut
The school was garbage in the first place, that's on the up and up
Keep you at the bottom but tease you with the uppercrust
You get it then they move it so you never keeping up enough
If you turn on TV all you see’s a bunch of “what the s”
Dude is dating so and so blabbering bout such and such
And that ain't Jersey Shore, homie that's the news
And these the same people that supposed to be telling us the truth
Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist
Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didn’t say
That's why I ain't vote for him, next one either
I’ma part of the problem, my problem is I’m peaceful
And I believe in the people.

    [Skylar Grey]
It’s so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can’t take back the words I never said
I can’t take back the words I never said

    [Lupe Fiasco - Verse 2]
Now you can say it ain't our fault if we never heard it
But if we know better than we probably deserve it
Jihad is not a holy war, wheres that in the worship?
    Murdering is not Islam!
    And you are not observant
And you are not a muslim
Israel don’t take my side cause look how far you’ve pushed them
Walk with me into the ghetto, this where all the Kush went
Complain about the liquor store but what you drinking liquor for?
Complain about the gloom but when’d you pick a broom up?
Just listening to Pac ain't gone make it stop
A rebel in your thoughts, ain't gon make it halt
If you don’t become an actor you’ll never be a factor
    Pills with million side effects
Take em when the pains felt
Wash them down with Diet soda!
    Killin off your brain cells
    Crooked banks around the World
Would gladly give a loan today
So if you ever miss a payment
They can take your home away!

    [Skylar Grey]
It’s so loud inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can’t take back the words I never said, never said
I can’t take back the words I never said

    [Lupe Fiasco - Verse 3]
I think that all the silence is worse than all the violence
Fear is such a weak emotion that's why I despise it
We scared of almost everything, afraid to even tell the truth
So scared of what you think of me, I’m scared of even telling you
Sometimes I’m like the only person I feel safe to tell it to
I’m locked inside a cell in me, I know that there’s a jail in you
Consider this your bailing out, so take a breath, inhale a few
My screams is finally getting free, my thoughts is finally yelling through

    [Skylar Grey]
It’s so loud Inside my head
With words that I should have said!
As I drown in my regrets
I can’t take back the words I never said

    [P.O.S.:]
    Yeah, yeah...
Don't let 'em get a handful, see 'em with a handle of jack
Or crossed fingers on the hands behind their back
And with a knack to trust then disrupt
Lose trust then change the rules up
And who's up for tax cuts? (Crime pays)
Hidden estates with like really long driveways
Crime pays, rats in the hallway
Aim for the crack, minimum wage
It goes, anyways sipping on a dry gin
Heavy headed living in and out of my skin
And living livid, glad for the chance
Glass full of gas with a rag in the other hand
    Wild like a Taliban
Wild like a child slapped in the grin, black be the skin
    Packed full of carbon
Packed full of carbon and starving again, c'mon

    [Jason Shevchuk:]
There's eyes in the back of my head!

    [P.O.S.:]
Yeah, hold up, the buck stops disintegrating here (yeah right)
The fear generator's here y'all warmer
Deviating clear past the consumer, room for improvement
Trade space with some doom and gloom
    Renovate with the renegade
    Skate like the centigrade dropped
Consider the cold "copped" like a motorcade
    And roll away contagious
And infect the vacant, good the gracious
Gotta debase the basic, erase the facelift
Taste a bad case of the breaks and heal
    Gotta create the makeshift
Swagger like it's yours and debate whatever you don't feel
And don't come "Knock knock, who's there? Boo, boo, whoing"
Live a little better than a bad joke
Who ruins? Chew through your wrist
    Come on, let's do it, let's, let's, let's go

    [Jason Shevchuk:]
There's eyes in the back of my head!
I want them blinded, I want them blinded
But if I find the man who put my foot in the sand
And other heavy hearts, oh, oh, oh
Make it impossible to cleanse his sins
    So unforgettable, so unforgettable
    I-oh, oh, oh
    I-oh, oh, oh
There's eyes in the back of my head!

    [Jadakiss]

Yo, why is Jadakiss as hard as it gets
Why is the industry designed to keep the artist in debt
And why them dudes ain't ridin' if there part of your set
And why they never get it poppin' but they party to death
Yea, and why they gon give you life for a murder
Turn around only give you eight months for a burner, it's goin down
Why they sellin' z CD's for under a dime
If it's all love daddy why you come wit your nine
Why my z ain't get that cake
Why is a brother up North better than Jordan
    That ain't get that break
Why you ain't stackin' instead of tryin' to be fly
Why is rattin' at an all time high
    Why are you even alive
Why they kill Tupac n' Chris
Why at the bar you ain't take straight shots instead of poppin Crist'
Why them bullets have to hit that door
Why did Kobe have to hit that raw
    Why he kiss that
    Why

    [Chorus: Anthony Hamilton]
    All that I been givin'
Is this thing that I've been living
They got me in the system
Why they gotta do me like that
Try'd to make it my way
But got sent up on the highway
    Why, oh why
Why they gotta do me like that

    [Jadakiss]
Why would z push pounds and powder
Why did bush knock down the towers
    Why you around them cowards
Why Aaliyah have to take that flight
Why my D ain't pull out his Ferrari
    Why he take that bike
Why they gotta open your package and read your mail
Why they stop lettin' z get degreez in jail
Why you gotta do eighty-five percent of your time
And why do z lie in eighty-five percent of they rhymes
Why a always want what he can't have
Why I can't come through in the pecan Jag
Why did crack have to hit so hard
    Even though it's almost over
Why z can't get no jobs
Why they come up wit the witness protection
Why they let the terminator win the election
    Come on, pay attention
Why sell in the stores what you can sell in the streets
Why I say the hottest but we sellin' the least

    [Chorus]

    [Jadakiss]
    Uh, yea, yo
Why Halle have to let a white man pop her to get a Oscar
Why Denzel have to be crooked before he took it
Why they didn't make the CL6 wit a clutch
And if you don't smoke why the you reachin' for my dutch
Why rap, cause I need air time
Why be on the curb wit a "why lie I need a beer" sign
Why all the young z is dyin'
Cause they moms at work, they pops is gone, they livin' wit iron
Why they ain't give us a cure for aids
Why my diesel have fiends in the spot on the floor for days
Why you screamin' like it's slug, it's only the hawk
Why my buzz in L.A. ain't like it is in New York
Why you forcin' you to be hard
Why ain't you a thug by choice
Why the whole world love my voice
Why try to tell 'em that it's the flow son
And you know why they made the new twenties
Cause I got all my old ones
    That's why

    Lyrics first...

"What we've got here is failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach...
So, you get what we had here last week,
which is the way he wants it!
    Well, he gets it!
N' I don't like it any more than you men." *

Look at your young men fighting
    Look at your women crying
Look at your young men dying
The way they've always done before

Look at the hate we're breeding
Look at the fear we're feeding
Look at the lives we're leading
The way we've always done before

    My hands are tied
The billions shift from side to side
And the wars go on with brainwashed pride
For the love of God and our human rights
And all these things are swept aside
By bloody hands time can't deny
And are washed away by your genocide
And history hides the lies of our civil wars

    D'you wear a black armband
    When they shot the man
Who said "Peace could last forever"
    And in my first memories
    They shot Kennedy
I went numb when I learned to see
So I never fell for Vietnam
We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all
    That you can't trust freedom
When it's not in your hands
    When everybody's fightin'
    For their promised land

    And
I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
    Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
    In a human grocery store
    Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war

Look at the shoes your filling
Look at the blood we're spilling
Look at the world we're killing
The way we've always done before
Look in the doubt we've wallowed
Look at the leaders we've followed
Look at the lies we've swallowed
And I don't want to hear no more

    My hands are tied
For all I've seen has changed my mind
But still the wars go on as the years go by
With no love of God or human rights
'Cause all these dreams are swept aside
By bloody hands of the hypnotized
Who carry the cross of homicide
And history bears the scars of our civil wars

"We practice selective annihilation of mayors
    And government officials
For example to create a vacuum
    Then we fill that vacuum
    As popular war advances
    Peace is closer" **

I don't need your civil war
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor
    Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
    In a human grocery store
    Ain't that fresh
And I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
I don't need your civil war
    Your power hungry sellin' soldiers
    In a human grocery store
    Ain't that fresh
I don't need your civil war
I don't need one more war

I don't need one more war
Whaz so civil 'bout war anyway

What about that "Me So Horney" song?
Two Live Crew and the Fresh Prince or something like that.
Hmmmm...does horney have an "e" in it?
    Horney. Horny.
"Me So Horny." That's it. What about that song?

    We’ve got “Freedom Of Religion”. . . . , I understand . . . . ,
But Ground Zero is one location, where a Mosque shouldn’t stand…..!!!

    (Chorus)

We’ve got to stop the Mosque at Ground Zero . . . ,
From thumin’ its nose at every victim and hero . . . ,
Thousands of Americans died in the attack . . . ,
    It’s a sacred place, and that’s a cold hard fact . . . ,

    There’s a painful memory in our minds . . . ,
Our hearts keep breakin’ when we envision that tragic time.

    (Chorus)

God help us retain the honor and trust . . . ,
For all the families…., who have suffered so damn much . . . ,

    Many Innocent Americans were killed . . . ,
If we let them build it, can't you see . . . ,
    They'll turn 9-11 to a mockery . . . ,

    (Chorus)

"Ohio" - Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

    Tin soldiers and Nixon's coming,
    We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
    Four dead in Ohio.

    Gotta get down to it
    Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago.
    What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la
La la la la la la la la
La la la la la la la.

    Gotta get down to it

    "Southern Man" - Neil Young

    Southern man
    Better keep your head
    Don't forget
    What your good book said
    Southern change
    Gonna come at last
    Now your crosses
    Are burning fast
    Southern man

    I saw cotton
    And I saw black
    Tall white mansions
    And little shacks.
    Southern man
    When will you
    Pay them back?
    I heard screamin'
    And bullwhips cracking
    How long? How long?

    Southern man
    Better keep your head
    Don't forget
    What your good book said
    Southern change
    Gonna come at last
    Now your crosses
    Are burning fast
    Southern man

    Lily Belle,
    Your hair is golden brown
    I've seen your black man
    Comin' round
    Swear by God
    I'm gonna cut him down!
    I heard screamin'
    And bullwhips cracking
    How long? How long?
