They aren't saying Ryan Anderson is the next Dirk. The writer is just making the point that Andersen's game is close to Dirks. For years NBA teams have been drafting tall European players with a perimeter game hoping they become the next Dirk (Paul Gasol, Andrea Bargnani, Darko Milicic etc...). Its just interesting that the player who has the more similar makeup to Dirk is an American. Interesting for the writer anyway.
