Hopefully someone can help me out with this

im trying to use my WiFi network to copy files to and fro my pc and android 2.3 phone. I can see my pc from my phone, but cant copy files (for that I had to make a homegroup with no password because windows wont give me a user name even if I set it to use user names in advanced config); I cant see the phone from the pc. I read about an app to use FTP but that seems more complicated than necessary. Is there an easier way?

There's definitely an easier way. A USB cable. I'm not trying to be cheeky but it seems to make more sense, IMO.
