Andrew Luck
we all know voters will ensure richardson grabs it. there is no doubt in my mind he will get the heisman. it doesnt mean because he's the best player but because he's a part of the BCS' lovechild's conference.
I figure Luck's going to win it for the same reason. Nobody that votes for Luck will make a convincing case.
agreed! thats my pick.
So mad
I hope Ball wins it, but think it's down to RGIII/Luck. Popularity being Luck's assistant.
Still scouring the internet for a convincing case for Luck. So far the best reasons I can find concern his record last season and how his team might only win 6 or 7 games without him. Baylor has the 110th best defense in the nation and they still won 9 games. If a quarterback wins the award, it's gotta be Griffin.
we all know richardson will win it, though i wouldnt be surprised luck wins.
if richardson doesnt win it (or atleast gets 2nd) then my string of correct predictions has run out, and its no use posting anymore.
It should be RGIII in a landslide.
Kid from LSU should be second.
Richardson will not win it.
RG3 should take it. Luck 2nd. The honey badger really hurt Richardson in this. Them 2 being in it splits a lot of the SEC/Southern voters up.
Holy that song is terrible.
I had to turn the video off after 5 seconds
this guy is really classy, tbh. what a humble player.
I don't see how what he said is any different than RGIII. RGIII said immediately "I think Baylor won their first heisman tonight".
That's more direct than saying he deserves to be at the top.
Your SEC butthurt is incredible.
I assume you're serious. Seems like a nice kid. Gives his teammates credit for throwing good blocks for him.
Tyrann Mathieu is the best player in football.
RG3 deserves the heisman.
I think the field is wide open this year. If you're going based on statistical production alone, RG3 would definitely deserve it more than Luck. But even though he isn't a finalist, you could say the same thing about Case Keenum deserving it over RG3 using that same logic. I'm sure the voters look at more than just the stats. Luck was already anointed last year and it will probably sway votes his way, deserving or not. And I do think how each of Heisman candidate's teams finished and their overall record will also play a role.
Heisman voting sucks as much as the BCS.
Luck seemed to fizzle out. I don't really think RGIII is Heisman worthy, but I think I'd vote for him over Keenum because of SOS.
I think RGIII wins it.
Implying that going based on statistical production alone gives Griffin an advantage over Luck means that some combination of something else gives Luck the advantage over Griffin, which just isn't so. As you said, unless voters decide to put a whole lot of undeserved weight on his runner up for the Heisman last year and his team's two extra wins, there just isn't a case to be made between the two. My incredible, horribly gigantic bias aside, it's frankly not even close.
Keenum had quite a bit better stats. They're pretty jaw dropping. I'd be all for Keenum getting the trophy, but he wasn't a finalist, probably due to UH's relatively weak schedule. Scary that Art Briles could have had both of them this year in Houston had he stayed.
Richardson's my boy, but he's not even the most deserving RB. Ball is.
RG III will win it.
Fair. I'm not suggesting Luck does have the other intangible factors in his favor. Frankly, I didn't watch much of either team, other than College Football Final highlights. But if I were a Heisman voter, I would definitely look at other factors, such as 4th quarter drives in close games, being able to bring a team back from being down, how they performed against the better teams, what type of talent is around each from the O-line to receivers and RBs. Stuff like that. If those things still favor RG3, that's good. RG3 did have better overall stats, but Luck had close enough stats that I would at least look at those other factors when deciding.
For me, if I did have a vote, I would actually lean towards Mathieu as some others have suggested. I agree that right now he's the best college football player in the country. And the fact that he plays on the #1 team in the country and still shines above his teammates, that would get my vote. But I do understand why he likely won't, with his drug violation and since he's only a sop re and voters generally tend to not vote for underclassmen. But he has impressed me most this season.
