SI or ESPN

I have a subscription to ESPN but I find that I almost never read even half of it. Found myself missing Sports Illustrated thiking that they had better writing. But picked up the SI NBA Preview edition yesterday and it was pretty worthless. There was an article about high school athletes and gangs which looked interesting but it was just a few pages of uninteresting narrative. Do they both suck?
