Does anyone consider the salary cap when making these threads? We have no money to give him

Wilson Chandler's list of possible destinations now extends beyond his former team in Denver, his agent, Chris Luchey, told SI.com.
Chandler, the five-year veteran and restricted free agent small forward who played in China during the lockout, visited Toronto on Tuesday and is considering joining the Raptors. Chandler is still waiting for his clearance to return to the NBA from the Chinese Basketball Association but was in Denver on Monday for a game against Minnesota, talking contract terms with Nuggets GM Masai Ujiri and even visiting his old locker room.
Luchey said the Raptors (9-23), who have salary cap room to add Chandler without the use of an exception, are in the mix and that he is talking to six other teams. Chandler made $2.1 million last season and had been hoping for a long-term deal with Denver.
What do you think? Are the Spurs one of the six teams? If not, should they be?

no, spurs are not getting him.
If the owners liked spending money we would have a punchers chance.
Let's see... Go to Toronto and be lost in obscurity OR go to San Antonio and compete for a championship and probably even start? Sounds like a no-brainer to me..
First off even if he did sign here, Pop would never start him simply because guys like blair and Jefferson are easily shaken by things like starting and not starting.
RJ's production would go down (way down probably) if he didnt start. Second the Spurs aren't a championship team until they get another big.
Not only that, but he can't "decide" to take less to play for the Spurs. Denver has the right to match any offer he gets. If we made him a low-ball offer, Denver would match it in a heartbeat.
It. Can't. Happen.
What a misleasing thread ile...
"RJ's production would go down" - is this a logically possible phenomenon?
It has been proven by Bonner many times
In this stupid scenario, who ing cares if RJ's production goes down? He will be the 3rd SF behind Chandler/Leonard
This is what I was thinking. le should be changed.
concerning the salary cap, spurs still have money left from exceptions i believe. jr smith and martin both went to teams that are over the cap and for 1 year contracts. why can't wilson chandler go to the spurs with a similar contract?
chandler will make a good insurance policy for manu if manu never comes back to full form this season. also, if manu comes back, chandler would completely push jefferson to the end of the bench, so that is an added bonus.
Chandler is a restricted free agent. Martin and Smith were unrestricted.
i see...
Just speculating, but the one thing about Chandler talking to Toronto, is the Raptors would have to shed salary in order to sign him, which could possibly lead them to trading one of their bigs(Davis or Johnson).
I might bite on Davis - young prospect who isnt very far removed from being a lottery pick, but pass on Amir Johnson - too fat of a contract. Now if you're talking James Johnson I might be interested, the Spurs dont really have any player at all even remotely like him.
If Spurs amnesty , they would have cup space. But what if Denver matchup the offer , then Spurs might end up with neither of this players. Or I am wrong about this ?
That is incorrect my friend. It would have given the Spurs more money to spend, but not via trade like this scenario.
Meaning they wouldn't have cap space but a bigger mid-level exception.
Wrong. The Spurs can't consider amnestying RJ again until the summer. The deadline to do it this year was up before the season started. You can't amnesty a guy during the middle of the season.
There is NO WAY the Spurs get Chandler except through a sign and trade that Denver would have to agree to.
So Spurs have no chance to sign him during this season. Thanks for clearing this.
