US soldier to serve no time for Iraq killings

A US marine accused over the killing of 24 Iraqi civilians in the city of Haditha was demoted to the rank of private but will serve no time behind bars, a military spokesman has said.

Wuterich, 31, the commander of a unit whose seven other members have been exonerated through various legal rulings, pleaded guilty on Monday to negligence, ending the final prosecution stemming from the 2005 incident.

He entered his plea as part of a deal with military prosecutors in which more serious charges of involuntary manslaughter and aggravated assault were dismissed.

"Staff Sergeant Wuterich accepted responsibility ... and agreed and admits that he gave a verbal order to shoot first, ask questions later, or don't hesitate to shoot, and words to that effect," said spokesman Joe Koppel.

The victims included 10 women and children killed at point-blank range. Six people were killed in one house, most shot in the head, including women and children huddled in a bedroom.

    Boys will be boys.

Raping (civilians AND colleagues, male and female) and murdering is what they do, to help the US/UK oilcos grab Iraqi oil.

"Invisible War" exposes widespread rape in U.S. military

    Men Struggle for Rape Awareness

In one study of 3,337 military veterans applying for disability benefits for post-traumatic stress disorder, 6.5 percent of male combat veterans and 16.5 percent of noncombat veterans reported either in-service or post-service sexual assault. (The rates were far higher for female veterans, 69.0 percent and 86.6 percent respectively.)

A Pentagon report released on Thursday found a 64 percent increase in sexual crimes in the Army since 2006, with rape, sexual assault and forcible sodomy the most frequent violent sex crimes committed last year; 95 percent of all victims were women.

can you prove this or is it just another re ed generalization like bean3r you use constantly to prove how cool and hip you are?

U.S. military forces had been stationed in and around Haditha to control the Haditha Dam, a major hydroelectric installation. The area had seen several clashes between U.S. forces and insurgent groups since the beginning of the Iraq War with many fatalities on both sides.[18][19][20]
This place was a battlefield and an important structure, two of the most important things to consider.

Since being named in news reports in connection with the killings, several of Wuterich's family members have spoken out in his defense. Wuterich's father, Dave Wuterich, told the Associated Press that “I just don't believe that he [Frank Wuterich] would do something like that.”[10] Previously, Wuterich's former wife, Marisol, had praised Wuterich in blog postings.[11] On June 19, 2007, Marisol Wuterich and her father-in-law were interviewed on Fox News Channel's Hannity and Colmes. Both said that they back Frank Wuterich “100 percent”.[12]
Before you kill a strawman wuterich style, I don't think nothing happened here, and it's a shame the real killers aren't brought down as well, instead of just their commanding ... sergent (he was not an officer). However, according to the reports, insurgents killed one of the soldiers in a large IED blast. This same happened in Vietnam. Americans want to save their ass like anyone else and seeing your friend killed instantly, another trapped under the car and knowing the bomb was meant for you and your whole squad doesn't help your nerves when you're on clearing duties house to house. Particularly when insurgents supposedly are or will be firing at you.

Stop blaming and branding every soldier a heartless animal for this politicians' war. Most of these dudes are from lower income brackets who are taking the best opportunity available to them. Or are you too much of a generalizing cheese and a racist to understand?

Are you really trying to rationalize murder? That is some Saddam right there.....bring on the war crimes tribunals....
