son I think we should also look at the 4 years before Gasol ...

    Los Angeles Lakers

2004-05: 34-48 - Kobe's first year as team leader, fails to make playoffs

2005-06: 45-37 - Kobe's second year as team leader, stomped out in first round

2006-07: 42-40 - Kobe's third year as team leader, stomped out in first round

2007-08: Kobe cries to be traded because he knows he can't lead a team so Stern sends him Gasol and the Lakers immediately hit a 10 game winning streak that started on Gasol's third game as a Laker and they finish the season 27-9 since Gasol's arrival. Gasol saves the day.

Crazy to think that Gasol could have such an impact that it would alter Kobe's legacy forever.

Kobe fans ought to be suckin that Spanish , tbh.

Tough when they just took out Paul's and are diving to Howard's knees

I suppose you're right. I guess I was thinking Kobe fans would be more thankful for having that down their throats.

Amazing trade. I was stunned when it happened. LA became a super team before everyone else and it changed the landscape of the league. I firmly believe we wouldn't see Heat type teams had this not gone down.

I thought the Spurs were a lock for the finals that year until Bynum went down. Once he did, LA was guaranteed to make a splash via trade, and did they ever. If Bynum doesn't get injured, the Lakers don't send out the smoke signals to Memphis.
