People have been killing each other for thousands of years. To a certain extent I think we just hear about it more now because of instantaneous media saturation.
I'm sure the gun control drums will start beating again.
What the is making students take such drastic action? Gun control isn't the problem but I don't what anything anyone does can truly prevent these types of actions.

I concur. I don't think we need assault weapons and I can support that but it won't stop the type of incident that happened today.
guns don't kill. people with guns kill. people+guns=kill tbh.
Assault weapons kick ass. It's fun as to get on a herd of wild pigs rooting in the middle of an oat field with an AR15 and a 20 round clip.

You know, I can understand that which makes this issue so difficult. I don't want or think we need these assault weapons to be legal but I can't really blame people for wanting them. It is Hollywood's fault damn it!!!
Are they truly necessary? Some may say just look at the crime rate and the answer should/would be " yes!". You can argue with that but it doesn't change the fact that as Americans...we love the freedom to have and own weapons of mass protection...and the freedom to use them..legally..yet deadly...and I..as a progressive...will defend my family with lethal force.
People would kill with the next deadliest weapon they can find if guns somehow magically disappeared.

A repeating crossbow would get the job done, although I don't think that would be practical. Bombs, too. Throwing knives.
no matter what the weapon, movies, tv, video games present the solution to rage, revenge, etc as murder. Omnipresent, worshipped guns are the weapon most used.
