1. Having an owner who was the least wealthiest of owners in the entire NBA who's only source of income was his team. Although I can't say that Shinn was ever "cheap", he and the "mom and pop" style of a front office that he ran had absolutely no idea how to build a team.
2. Currently being owned and operated by the NBA.
but son say what you want and yes the Hornets are having a very bad season this year, but even with that said they have still generated more revenue and have better attendance than Sacramento, Detroit, Indiana, and New Jersey all of which have a better product on the floor and are in much larger markets. The Hornets are also neck and neck by only 100-200 people in attendance with Houston, Milwaukee, and Atlanta again all of which have better teams and are much larger markets as well.
