In the playoffs it's about defense and stars. The Lakers have a better defense and would have the three best players in the series. Sorry SA... againNot to mention I face their pussy frontline.
I despise both teams but they're playing great right now and are championship contenders in my opinion. If they get out of the first round, I could see them meeting up in the WCF. If they meet up in the WCF, it would continue the West dominance of California and Texas. I also could see either team winning the championship.

They're gonna get either LAL or Memphis in the second round, if they can even get out of the first round this year, that is.

Yeah...I agree. There is a matchup or two that would be a for the Spurs...just going to hope we can outplay whoever ends up in our bracket, tbh.

OKC should win the West. It's their conference to lose.
If they make it into the playoffs, you also can't discount Dallas. They're the champs, and Dirk, when he catches fire like he did last season, can make it really tough on anybody.
Lakers' optimism is solely based on the Spurs win. Their current 4 win streak include being taken to OT by NOH, barely beating a Denver team at home, and back to OT at home against Dallas today. Prior to that: lost to Houston at home and against Phoenix. They're still under .500 on the road. While the West is more or less open this season, everybody not named the Spurs has been able to play with them, including at home. Needing bailout gamewinners against NJ and Golden State just a week ago completes the picture.
Spurs are not contenders, IMO, because of a few factors, but mainly age. I think they can beat anybody in the 1st round, but unless they land the Clippers or some other non-physical team, the wear and tear will eventually catch up to Tim and Manu. Then there's the whole Bonner conundrum. I do think they're better than last season, but you're still going as far as Manu and Tim take you, IMO. Would love to be wrong about this.
Whoever is thinking this Lakers team has an extra gear or a playoff switch is in for a surprise not unlike last season, IMO.
The west is weaker this season simply because some teams which include the Lakers, Dallas and Memphis have gotten worse.

Memphis is a slightly smaller, but younger more athletic and deeper Laker team. The one time they played at full strength, the Lakers lost.

Thing is, Spurs match up better strictly because they aren't as big as the Laker frontline. On the other hand they have better D than LA and decent shooters. Might frustrate you into taking some 3s and/or getting ejected.
