It sucks, but was there ever any legislation that suggested they would become smaller?
A: no.
This is actually pretty awesome. It means that Wall Street can get back to doing what it does best...investing. Investing in small business. Investing in overseas markets. Investing in your homes and cars.
God bless America!
was there legislation that helped them build on their monopolies?
The TARP allowed BOA to acquire Merrill Lynch -- I'm sure there were several other such market consolidations that were less immediately newsworthy.
Biggest ing failure of this administration was to allow this to happen. All of Congress should be ashamed too. What a legacy these fools are going to leave behind. I hope history is unkind as to the lot of them (and those of us who put them in office, for that matter).
This result shouldn't surprise anyone. That's what we get for saving the banks we thought were too big to fail from failing and letting the banks we didn't think were too big to fail, fail.
There is a solution. It's called the Sherman An rust Act. All we need now is a president with the balls to use it. Too bad for us that neither our current president nor his potential replacement possess such testicular for ude.
Appropriate indignation and a mea culpa.
On point and good post.
For ude nothing, neither would see breaking the banks up as a goal to pursue!
"All of Congress should be ashamed"
There is no shame in professional politicians.
Where's the shame in doing what the 1% pays them to do?
