I like Monroe more than most people. He's about Leonard's age and already has a pretty polished offense that can still get better with more reliable jump shots. He's going to have to start playing defense though...

Not a bad backup plan, tbh. I didn't like the idea of Monroe at the expense of Green but if Aldridge picks another team and the Spurs are standing with a bag of cash, you could do much worse than a 25-year-old big who could step in and give you 15, 10 and 3. He'd be a definite defensive downgrade from Splitter but the fact that Monroe is a poor man's Duncan would make the fit relatively seamless.

no...would be terrible if we end up giving up Splitter just to overpay Monroe. Not a fan at all.

Monroe is a good plan B, but plan B isn't anywhere near what plan A is. Not even close.

Well considering how many on this board feel about Parker, would it really matter?

Splitter for Monroe is just a wash. His offense is better but his defense is worse. So the Spurs would be just paying 7mil more for the same impact player.

LMA or bust imo. But all signs point to LMA coming to the Spurs. Remember it was a teammate that mention that LMA told him himself that SA was the prefer destination during the playoffs which got this rumor started to begin with.

Monroe's calf game is better than Tiago's too though.

Keeping Green and Mills makes what ever happens with LMA okay. I am thrilled they kept Green!

Monroe at max/near max would probably be significantly cheaper than LMA no? Monroe + one or two bench pieces might be better than LMA + Bonner and Caron Butler

    Kawhi, 23
    Monroe, 25
    Green, 28

That would keep the playoff window open another 4 years at least. Joseph and Anderson could also be added to that core, perhaps.

Obviously Aldridge makes the Spurs legit championship contender for the next two years or so but Monroe wouldn't be a bad get at all.

    I'm in line with that

It's trendy nowadays to say he is a bust but I like him tbh it's a player with upside

Monroe is also 5.5 years younger. Tiago is a stud defensively, but cannot handle big minutes plus there are injury concerns. Monroe is durable and a good offensive player. I'm sure part of his black hole reputation = awful ball movement when Smith was around / Jennings playing bigger minutes, and playing for a contract this past year.

But yes, give me Aldridge please over him.
