*I'm talking about when both teams series were over.
6 freaking days off for the team that finished their series more recently?

    2. Every other day games for the whole series.
    This ever been done before.
Laker Stern spinning it as "due to the shortened season"?

2a. If the Kobmes would have somehow came back and won a rigged 7th game vs OKC, would the Spurs-Lakers WCFs be every other day? <speculative on 2a.

It's about the Heat-Pacers needing at least 4 more days to resolve their series and the NBA not wanting the WCF to get way ahead of the ECF.

OKC clearly has less to gain for the extended off period. They maight loose some rhythm as us but for sure they donīt gain for the rest as much as our guys. I wonīt complain.
Plus, Popovich is the better coach, and having time to plan the game could make that even more obvious.

It's happened before. As recently as 2010.

Click on the year and all the info for that season appears. I just looked for seasons with very short conference semifinals. In 2010, both WCSFs were sweeps and the wait before the WCFs was one day longer than this year.

Yes. This is stupid. Should have started it to a reasonable time then they could have had 2 days off here in there rather than this long wait.

2010 WCSFs both the WWE Lakers and Phoenix Suns swept. Thereby they had the same amount of time to wait (give or take one day). Altho it's very applicable thank you. I'm talking about when opponents have an inbalance like the Spurs finishing on Sunday and OKC not finishing until Tue night. Seems like OKC should have to *suffer* thru less days off by taking an extra game to finish off the hapless Fakers.

Also the every-other-day game stuff. This is a 1st for that, no?

OKC finished their series on Monday. The 2010 WCSFs ended on a Sunday and a Monday, just like this year. This year the WCF begins the following Sunday, in 2010 it started one day later on Monday.

As to your other question, I've provided you with the resource to conduct your own research.

Absolutely not. I wrote this in the schedule thread when you posed precisely the same questions there, before you decided that you needed to start another thread"

As far as the series scheduling goes, this is pretty much the way things always are -- the conference finals are staggered on alternating days.

Last year, the Mavs and Thunder played on May 17, 19, 21, 23, 25.

In 2010, when the Lakers and Suns both swept their conference semifinals, the West finals started a week after the Lakers finished their sweep; the league did build in a break between Games 2 and 3. Then again, Game 2 was on May 19 and game 3 was on May 23.

In 2009, the conference finals were staggered just like this schedule will play out. The Lakers and Nuggets played on May 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, and 29; the Cavs and Magic played on May 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, and 30.

In 2008, the conference finals were staggered like this. The Celtics and Pistons played on May 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, and 30; the Spurs and Lakers played on May 21, 23, 25, 27, and 29.

    In 2006, the Heat and Pistons played on May 23, 25, 27, 29, 31, and June 2. The Mavericks and Suns played on May 24, 26, 28, 30, June 1 and 3.

    In 2004, the Pistons and Pacers played on May 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, and June 1. The Lakers and Timberwolves played on May 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31.

    This is hardly novel stuff.

Just for good measure, the league used used the every other day scheduling in 2003 in both series as well:

New Jersey played Detroit on May 18, 20, 22, 24

    San Antonio played Dallas on May 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, and 29

The conference finals are on 2 networks alternating days. Nothing new. At least the travel is short and in the same time zone.
