"Tim Duncan will be a free agent this offseason, but has been widely expected to re-sign with the Spurs.
Duncan confirmed that assumption over the weekend.
'Though I shouldn't say that; I have to threaten them that I'll leave,' joked Duncan. 'No … I'm not going anywhere. You can print that wherever you want to. I'm here and I'm a Spur for life.'"

"How much?" is the question.
Wonder if he will take less money.
A year curtesy extension then he retires.
If he can play at this level I see no reason why he can't play longer. Pop has done an amazing job of managing his minutes.
2 years of 25 minutes per game in the regular season and maybe we keep Duncan fresh enough to stay as a contender
What he told Ludden was a year or two. If he's still feeling like this this time next year, he might have one more in him.
If we can keep his minutes down during the regular season and get him most of his touches off the pick and roll instead of in the post (where he has to work a lot harder), he may have 2 more years like this one in him.
Here's a trivia question for you (I don't know the answer):
How many NBA teams have had three Hall of Famers at the same time who never played on any other NBA team?
The question is relevant to the Spurs, of course, if it turns out (1) all three make the Hall, and (2) none of 'em ever wear another NBA jersey.
I think Boston may be the only team, with some combination of Russell, Havlicek, Heinsohn, K.C Jones and/or Sam Jones (Cousy actually played a season with the Cincinnati Royals). But that's just a wild guess.
Anyone know?
He has no reason to stop playing unless he wants to retire should the Spurs win a le this year. Which is acceptable. But, he's playing fantastic. His health is up considering previous seasons. He should be allowed to play as long as he wants. As long as he plays the better out le aspirations are.![]()
Knicks came close -- Willis Reed and Bill Bradley played their whole career in New York, but Clyde got exiled to Cleveland for the last three years of his career.
Some pairs that didn't have a third: Baylor and West, Magic and Worthy, Bird and McHale, Isiah and Dumars.
Unless there's a team from the 40s or 50s, I think the Russell Celtics are pretty much it.
BTW, if both Parker and Manu make the Hall, that actually makes four career-Spur Hall of Famers at the same time, thanks to the 2003 season.
None that i can think of
Don't know, but the Spurs will likely have four, right?
Good catch!
Now that could be the capper.![]()
From 62-63 thru 64-65, the Celts had six players that met your description:
Russell
Heinsohn
Havlicek
Sanders
K.C. Jones
Sam Jones
I don't see Timmy doing a Shaq and extending his career to the point he's not longer useful o an important part to the team. I think he'll be here next year for sure, maybe sign a two year deal. But longer than that... I don't think so
As much as he wants.
duncan will get a blank check. simple as that. the amount of success he has brought to this franchise is priceless, he deserves whatever he gets
here's how his contract signing will go...buford-Tim how much do u want? Tim-X amount. Buford- ok..lets get back to work
Why does duncan need to even play during the reg season? Couldn't he just sit out 3/4 reg and be there for playoffs for the next 2-3 years?
So much for your prediction that this is his last season.
Duncan probably got at least two more effective years in him
Probably he will play, because he loves doing it.
Pop rests him properly for next season and he will still be this good another 2 years
he should probably just sit out half of every season he plays till he retires then he'll be fresh come playoffs time
Trade him for draft picks imotbqh
I wish he'd take a 2yr/24mil deal. Doubtful but it depends on how much he..
a)wants to gets paaaaaaaaid
b)wants the spurs to have money to build with
