Kevin Johnson just for what he did to Hakeem

Tough call. When players are close, I tend to stick with the proven champion. But if I could have both at their peak I'm leaning KJ, but would love to hear some interesting debates the other way. I definitely would rank Parker over KJ "career wise" and I despised them both. (I respect their games). When his hamstrings were not failing him ... KJ had Parker type quicks with better explosion. But a close call. Who ya got and why?
KJ was definitely a superior basketball player to TP.
TP has more accomplishments (although via co-tailing Timmy and Manu) and will probably be remembered as greater
In the 1989-1990 season KJ averaged:
22.5 points
11.4 assists
Shot 84% FT
Shot .499 FG%
Not a huge stat guy but a prime KJ is battling Parker, Paul, Rose etc for alpha male PG status ...
KJ hands down. He could dunk like a man....Parker is a sissy...KJ would fight back if hit Parker will not...(just ask Chris Brown)...KJ was tough Parker is not. KJ could lead a team as the number 1 option and Parker cannot.
Dat was sick. I remember watching it and thinking ...man. NO ONE dunks on Hakeem like that.
Parker's a lot like Kobe in that respect — a guard who can't lead a team to success on his own but wins a finals MVP or two anyways![]()
Parker this year:
18.3 points
7.7 assists
.799 from FT line
.480 FG%
Not sure if this was he peak but the media portrayed it that way. Just looking at numbers KJ has edge, but Parker drove back to back teams to HCA in a loaded West. So numbers are NOT everything.
Don't sell the contributions of Timmy and Manu that short. Not to mention having the best coach in NBA history. No one maximizes the talent of the players he has on the roster better than Pop. He makes scrubs become very serviceable players.
KJ's prime didn't last very long obviously, but he at his best was better.Yeah Pop does do that.
KJ is a better basketball player, period. No question about it.
KJ had the better prime, but Parker's prime lasted a lot longer. He's basically been in his prime since 2006.
Wesbrook and Rose can dunk ...but many bash them as shooting guards. The qustion was who is better and why? A dunk on Hakeem is impresive but not a good reason.
Side note: Anyone remember KJ's toaster oven head on the old Sega games like Lakers vs. Celtics or Bulls vs. Blazers? That nicca had the funniest side profile in video gaming history.
Don't be afraid.to say
Prime KJ, plus his shoes were the GOAT. only pair of Converse I ever owned, besides my the low cut Jack Percell's

Absolute peaks, KJ no question. There was a time KJ was challenging Magic as being the best PG/Johnson (this sounds so wrong) in the game.
Too bad he never stretched and that destroyed his career.
I remember whispers. But similar whispers were made about Tony in realation to Paul and Rose. But none of you are changing my mind, most agree it's KJ. I was hoping some would take the opposing view. Maybe it wasnt as close as I originally thought.
Paul and Rose are no where near Magic in terms of accomplishments.
Getting compared to Magic vs. getting compared to Rose/CP3 tells you all you need to know.
During his prime KJ was either the first or at worst the second option. On the other hand, TP, until this year has been considered by most as the little player amongst the Spurs Big Three. KJ might have had a higher peak but it didn't last long.
This thread is a ing joke.
I just posted link the other day to where KJ had multiple 40+ point games against the Rockets in 95 where Barkley laid egg after egg.
KJ would send Tony Parker's pancake-soft ass back to France if ever they played together in the same era.
